Fun trail but very confusing at it converges with various loops that make up Bull Run Park. It's near a school for archery. It was kind of neat seeing the caution signs warning people to steer clear of flying arrows.Interesting sites along the trail. we encountered a garter snake, an abandoned car, and long tubing that may have been part of a larger construction project. In our confusion, we ended up adding a few miles to our hike. We did about 7.5 miles all together.Just remember to follow the blue horse shoes that brand this trail.

Nice trail once you get to it. Starts on the left when you park and crosses over to the right for the full trail. Lots of hills towards the lake though

This is a well-marked, well-maintained trail that combines about 3 miles of out-and-back hiking with a couple miles of loops with the Hampton Loop near the beginning and Inlet Loop at it's far reach. The hike can be shortened by eliminating either or both loops if desired. There are several fairly steep ascents/descents, as well as occasional roots and rocks to be navigated, thus the moderate rating. But it's a very accessible trail. There's a good map with more information about the path here. https://www.novaparks.com/sites/default/files/maps/Public_FHRP_Equestrian_Trails_kiosk_poster_112318.pdf There are good views of the waters of the Occoquan Reservoir, as well as the occasional decades old rusted car from the trails days as a guard route.
