There's a parking lot right off of State Road 600, which has trail heads to Elk Garden, AT and Highlands Horse Trail. There's no camping allowed in the parking area, obviously, but if you arrive late at night (like I did), there are two camping sites on the edge of the woods, right behind the parking lot. (Beside AT trail head). There's one bathroom (housed hole in the ground).

You can’t beat the views at the top of this trail. It shows as an out and back, but actually connect to the VA highlands Horse trail up at the summit and you can connect to Cabin Creek trail. There is decent flat ground at the top with lots of amazing views. You can see the mountains in NC on a clear day.

This is the start of a longer trail. Do the full loop, this short section does not provide much to see.

Follows a ridge. Because the leaves are just coming out could see the views, otherwise it would be like hiking in the tunnel

Loved this trail. Went up the AT and took the horse trail back down for a total of approx 4 mile roundtrip. Beautiful!

This a great trail. The AT meets with here so you get to talk with people who are hiking the AT. I chose to stay on the AT to White Top Mtn. GREAT HIKE.
