Short out and back but mostly rock and definitely not an easy hike.

WalkingGreat!

Beautiful hike for sunset. Make sure to use trail across the street from parking lot which is more like a little pull of than a parking lot. The overlook was halfway through the trail so it makes for a perfect hike at sunset it’s only like 15 minutes to hike to the overlook (a little short but convenient for hiking when it’s getting dark).

One of our favorite hikes with our family’s. It’s not too long and not a hard hike at all! The very beginning is a bit rocky — take your time and use a walking stick to help navigate that area down and back, but likely won’t need it for much else. My kiddos are 7, 9 & 14 and all do well with this hike. 1/2-3/4 way there is a nice overlook with quite a few areas to sit and enjoy the view. (Not much parking off road but you can park in grass behind parking area if needed - I’d say you can get 2-3 cars in grassy area). This is the trail across from the parking area not on the same side.

Nice easy hike! Very cute and laid back. The trail up is nice and when the leaves are changing it's beautiful! Not too strenuous at all and good for children or anyone looking for a laid back hike. View was more in the middle of the hike, not the top.

Great view at the elbow. A bit rocky in some places. Narrow trail made it a little hard for passing by other hikers (although my dog didn’t make it easy). Overall nice wooded hike that wasn’t too crowded on a Sunday morning. Limited parking.

It was wet and rocky. We lost half our crew as they could not make but the dog loved it and enjoyed the rainy walk. Not suitable for families with little kids.

Nice hike. We saw a few people but overall low traffic. We entered on the wrong side of the road initially, so it's worth taking a moment to make sure you're picking up the right part of the trail.

Nice walk. Parts are rocky and slippery. View was early in the hike. never saw any dripping rocks, other than the wet rocks on the trail itself.

Nice hike. I’d rate it as Easy+ though. There are a few areas that have big rocks which make it easier to twist an ankle. Some ups and downs but pretty level generally. Highlight is the big overlook at the big bend in the route (north-most point). Looks like it can get pretty busy there but there are some very nice views. Also, very dog friendly. Ours had a great time scrambling around.

0.6 miles in great view of Shenandoah Valley. Dripping rocks in the second 0.6iles were barely damp, but the valley view was worth it.

Little more than “easy” at times due to slippery rocks. Loved the overlook section where you got a great view of the Shenandoah Valley.

This turned out to be a just right outing for our trio (two out of shape parents and a bored teen son.) We only went about a half mile and came out to a really lovely view of the valley. We turned back then but perhaps next time we’ll go further. We saw a few other groups but mostly we had the trail to ourselves.

We wanted a close (to Wintergreen), relatively easy, peaceful walk in the woods and we wanted to do it on July 4th. Dripping Rock South was just what we were looking for. Near the beginning and at about 1.3 mile mark are wonderful outlooks of the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest. We ran into maybe 4 other groups over our 2 hour stroll. We also had a wildlife encounter with a rattlesnake. So you do need to stay alert.

very peaceful and shaded but a little rocky... Don't follow the whole Red Trail as highlighted on the map, stop at the point which has the Overlook because that's the best thing you'll see all day! There is nothing to see if you continue going to the end of the Red Trail...

Beautiful and lush but very very wet! Lots of little to medium rocks to be careful of when stepping. Should’ve been a quick one for us but ended up taking awhile to be careful the whole way. The overlook comes quick- about a mile in- we kept going but there wasn’t more to see! Beautiful view but have to have your wits about you!
