This loop is part of the original grant funded trail system that opened in 2010 at Crystal Springs Recreation Area. The trail climbs gently up the side of the ridge and skirts its way through an open hardwood forest to the old reservoir on Venrick Run. The reservoir was built in the early 1900's with hopes it would provide water for the Town of Wytheville. There wasn't enough year round water flow so eventually it was abandoned and filled with sand after a forest fire road allowed sand to be washed into the creek. In places you can see parts of the old waterline, especially along Waterline Trail. Follow Crystal Springs Loop adjacent to the creek back to the parking area.

Easy trail. Close to town. We walk it often.

This is not a moderate trail. This is an easy trail. It would be a great place to take small kids. There are a couple of small waterfalls and a shallow pool area. There are small creeks that meander through the trail. There are only very slight inclines on a couple of sections. Trail is almost entirely covered with old Woodland canopy. There's almost no undergrowth and the trails are very wide

we hiked in this sweet park this weekend. The trails are very well marked and clean! there are two bathrooms along the way and benches for anyone who gets tired. the trails are rocky in areas but still pretty easy to hike. This area offers primitive camping as well. the trails are not far out if the town of Wytheville VA but you certainly feel like you are out in the wilderness. we saw Deer and several woodpeckers.

Nice trail, easy to follow and well-marked. I was expecting a bit more water. Did see a large box turtle on the trail.

It's a beautifully maintained trail through a lovely forest. It was nice to find a delightful picnic area by the stream and brochures for kid activities. There were plenty of clean restrooms and clearly marked trails. We plan to return soon.

I enjoyed the trails and campsite 2 with my sister and mother. The site has quick access to pit toilet, trash , fire ring with wood and creek for water. You can walk in quickly or take the longer way around. Nice for first time backpacker .

Trails are pretty nice. Just a little muddy from the snow a few days ago. Everything is marked very well so you shouldn't get lost.

Hiked this trail many times, recently and years ago when it was first made and full of roots and stumps. Trail has much improved from use. Not sure why it is just now becoming visible on this app but happy it finally has!
