A trail leads to a footbridge over the creek at the base of the falls. The trailhead loop starts at the parking area just before the entrance to the campground, and is a medium to strenuous hike at just under 2.5 miles in length. The path to the falls is a rugged, downhill 0.9-mile, with a gentler 1.5-mile uphill return following Crabtree creek upstream before looping back to the parking area

So steep but so worth it. Go early to beat the crowds. It’s a very popular hike. Great for 10and up if you’re considering bringing the kids

A beautiful trail, the views were amazing. Some of the paths are a little narrow, but overall very good conditions. The view at the end is well worth the climb up and there is places if you need to stop and catch your breath.

This was a beautiful hike. The weather was perfect in September. As a novice hiker the trail was little more difficult than I thought it would be. Very rocky. The climb up was strenuous. Going back down was also challenging only because I wear bifocals and it made seeing my next step challenging for me. Thankful for all the hand rails and steps that have been added.

Awesome moderate trail! No GPS or cell service but the trail is very easy to follow. $3 entrance fee. Very shaded and rocky climb. Easy parking with restroom and picnic tables.

nice trail, maybe a bit too organised and too busy on the day we went.

One of our favorite trails. We took our 2 kids and 2 dogs. Had a couple of spots where the dogs got to play in the water. We went when it had rained the night before and was drizzling that day but was worth all of the beautiful views of the waterfalls and view from the top.

Nice to walk. Well maintained. The waterfall is at the bottom. Beautiful point of view on the mountains arrived at the top.

Trail is was pretty as you follow Crabtree falls from base to top. The falls are not just one set but rather a bunch of cascading falls from start of hike to 1.7 miles up. After the last view of falls which has a post you can continue to an outlook which has a decent enough view. It’s not much further from the last falls. That path is well kept and for the waterfall portion is mostly real stairs and the first 500 feet is paved. After the 1st 500 feet you start up multiple steep switchbacks. After the full set of waterfalls you have rocky terrain or loose rock and dirt and rock stairs to the outlook. I found the hike strenuous as it was steep the whole way up. My husband carried our 25lb baby up in a hiking backpack fine for how steep it was. It was still safe though. This trail is also not secluded. We arrived at 12 noon on a Monday and regularly encountered other people. It wasn’t crowded, but you didn’t really feel all alone at any point.

Well-constructed trail showing all levels of massive Crabtree Falls. Some steep and rocky areas, but many stairs and switchbacks to ease the grade. Wooden distance markers appear at 0.1 mile intervals, which simultaneously urges you on and reminds you how far you still have to go. Also, because this hike is an out-and-back, you can turn around whenever you get tired and have an almost all-downhill hike back. Overall, a fantastic hike.

This is a great trail in great condition. The trail pretty much constantly ascends all 1.7 miles, but we loved the markers every 10th of a mile to let us know how we were doing. The waterfalls are really beautiful. We went to the end of the trail for the view of the valley, but honestly it didn't wow us and you can't see the waterfall at all from above it.

Great hike, did it during the government shut down so it wasn’t very well kept at the time but still breath taking with the downed trees. Quite cold at the time, but of course I went on a rainy cold day so there were icicles hanging from my hair and mittens. It was great to avoid the crowds though I was maybe one of five cars there at the time. Not very long or strenuous by my account but certainly a sight to see. The waterfall is beautiful.

Great, strenuous hike but well worth the views. Very crowded on the trails at times and parking can be tough. If you have 4WD, take the 4x4 trail to the upper parking lot at Crabtree Falls and hike down to the upper falls. This 4x4 trail is fun to drive and there are backcountry campsites on this 4x4 trail as well.

Lightly trafficked is incorrect. The trailhead parking was full, and folks were parking on the main road. There is a toilet onsite, and a $3 charge for hiking the trail. Steep. Stairs. Shaded. Recommend packing light, and taking walking sticks. Nothing like walking down a mountain of too tall stairs to ruin the knees. A walking stick or two could save a lot of pain and ice later. It was very very crowded at noon on Saturday in June.

Great hike - many waterfall views along the trail so it’s filled with lots of beautiful scenery. $3 fee at entrance, multiple parking locations. Lower falls is a very short walk from the parking lot, so if looking you’re looking for a hike definitely continue on to the upper falls and even on to the meadows. The trial conditions were very good, especially for going during a rainy day. Lots of stairs and switchbacks which make for easy access to gain elevation quickly. Overall an enjoyable day
