It’s certainly not moderate, the ascend is steep and the slippery rocky trail is covered by leafs, so be extra careful. That said, the trail is well marked and well tended for. Do not expect blowout views like the Old Rag. But there will be no suffocating crowds either! A good alternative to this route would be a loop through Nicholson Hollow trail with return via Corbin Mountain trail. It’s 2300 feet but less steep if you go counterclockwise. Still, it’s a difficult trail for at least 7 hours.

It’s a good alternative to Corbin Mountain Trail with less steep but still quite strenuous and long ascend. Took 7,5 hours at a moderate pace with 45 minutes of stops. Didn’t see wildlife but bears are definitely present judging by their traces and scat, so exercise normal caution and don’t leave any food on the trail. There are two stream crossings with large stepping stones - should not be a problem even in moderately high water conditions. Still, be careful when crossing the stream. Not sure if bathing in the stream is allowed - if it is, there are a few great spots for that.
