Mostly marsh views but pleasant and easy hike. Quite a few people on the Cape Henry portion, far fewer on the latter half. Not very many masks

Good trail, lots of variations to take near the trail head, some small hills. Depending on route you take, it can be an easy hike vs. easy-to-moderate. Not many bikers or walkers today (cloudy and sprinkling, mid 50s), but five stars because it was as advertised: a well-marked, easy to perhaps-moderate, walk in the woods.

Easy relaxing hike along water. Great thanksgiving hike. Moss in full effect on trees.

I loved the hike until we looped back around and got on the Cape Henry Trail. There are a lot of bikers so you have to share the trail.

Cape Henry was nice, had work out stations and stuff which was cool but there was a lot of traffic. Towards the end of trail it was super muddy. Then when we cut to the lake trail it was super wood like and pretty beautiful view when you got to water and definitely more challenging to walk. I highly enjoyed the second half. Unfortunately the walk from the front park to the trail was longer then we wanted because they wouldn’t let us park in back parking for some reason. Only complaint is 10$ is a lot to park for a trail but it was fun and it was a beautiful day out.

I enjoyed this trail very much, it was a great workout running up all of the hills and through the sand with beautiful scenery to look at!

HikingBugsGreat!

Great trail! Very open with small rolling terrain. Many rest stops that over look the swamp throughout. Lots of wildlife! ***WARNING*** Bring Bug Spray! Mosquitoes are horrible.

Based on other reviews we decided to attempt this trail with a stroller. Big mistake! Started easy but once we turned onto the second trail roots, deep sand, bugs, snakes, and constant 90 degree temperatures made this very difficult.

The first 2.5 miles on the Cape Henry trail feel like they're never going to end. There are a few side trails that you can take that go back into the less explored areas of the park, though I don't believe they're "official" trails. That said, none of the side trails off Cape Henry Trail are marked as Do Not Enter. Once you turn onto the White Hill Lake Trail it gets much nicer with a bit more elevation change. The star part of the trail is once you reach the Long Creek trail which gives great views of the river and has some spots where relatively secluded swimming would be possible. Very fun trail.

Great trail for people just getting back into hiking who want a little more solitude than the wider more traversed ones.

The main trail, Cape Henry is 6 miles one way and you have to take another trail back to do the “loop”. Zoom in and look at all the trails on the map before you start. There is a $10 fee to park. The entire park was crowded. No one but me was wearing masks. On Cape Henry trail there are too many bikes (unsafe for walkers). It was impossible to maintain social distance on the weekend. The side trails were protected from bikes but still crowded. Lots of dogs and kids (which I like, but they make social distancing more difficult). Probably great on a weekday during normal times or maybe very early in the morning.
