Cabin, Pine, and Big Woods Trails Loop is a 3.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Powhatan, Virginia that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Multiple Trails - This hike has portions of Cabin Trail and Big Woods Trail, and all of Pine Trail (excluding shortcuts A and B). I like this hike since it lets you see different types of environments. You see fields with grass and vegetation, hardwood forest, and pine forest. This is one of my favorite Virginia State Parks. I've been coming here since it opened and it's nice to be able to see it grow.
Beautiful but very slick the after the rain and cooler temps the past few days — can’t wait to come back when it’s dryer!
Neat little 3 mile loop with wide sandy dirt/pebble trails. Some areas were a bit water logged or muddy, but nothing you can't maneuver around. Nice state park with easy parking (5$ fee) and some other field and woods trails to add on to this loop for more mileage.
Very pleasant walking trail, first time for us. Saw the ruins of an old cabin, an old cemetery, several different forest environments as well as the river. It was still pretty wet in a couple of places so I wouldn’t recommend it after a rainy spell. We walked at least 7 miles! We’ll be bacK.
Enjoyed the walk thought the woods, very lightly traveled but you have to watch the horse poop.
