I didn’t do the full 7 miles because I didn’t have time but I went up to the second peak and it was absolutely gorgeous. I love this hike, it’s intense but not crazy, definitely doable and really cool views.

Nice stroll through the woods before climbing nicely to the overlook. Can be extended by continuing up the ridge, as far as you care to go.

Nice hike with a beautiful view. We went a little further past the first overlook, and it does get very rocky but the rock formations were really neat. The parking lot gets very crowded so I recommend that you get there early.

Very moderate trial, about 2 miles to the first overlook, then 2 miles back to the car. If you are slightly out of shape, it may get up heart pumping a bit. The overlook is beautiful and worth the quick hike, you can continue on to walk along the ridge line (adding more mileage) but we didn’t have time. Went in last week of Oct. There were lots of leaves. It’s probably a very slippery trail when wet. The parking lot is very small. There were about 10 cars total on a Sunday around 1:30pm. Overall it’s a decent quick hike.

Doesn’t seem highly trafficked as there are soo many loose rocks that you have to walk on. That’s the only reason for only 3 stars. Hard on the ankles! Otherwise it’s pretty at the top and good views!

Beautiful. Had the morning off and decided to see how far I could get. To the first vista, trail is pretty easy. From the parking lot to the first vista took me 40 min walking at a moderate pace. After that it gets rocky and you'll want to be more careful. Saw woodpeckers, a couple finches, and squirrels galore. Ended up walking along the rocky ridge until it started downsloping and headed back the way I came. Took me 1hr 40 min total.

Very nice easy trail. It wasn't too crowded, but we went on a Thursday afternoon. it is more like 2 miles each way, the sign at the trail head even says 2 miles to buzzard peak. Not too steep but if you bring little kids be prepared to help them a bit at certain parts. Lots of wildlife, spiders, caterpillars, stick bugs, parasitic wasps and so on. We also saw a ton of mushrooms so that was an added bonus.

There are two major viewpoints on the hike up to Buzzard Rock, an overlook toward the north and the views around Buzzard Rock of the Passage Creek drainage and Meneka Peak. Neither were great views of the surrounding mountains as in you only see the ridge from the side, but the rocky ridge that make up Buzzard Rock is pretty cool. A negative is that this is an popular hike with a full parking lot even on a Tuesday. Not too long, not too short. Parking may be an issue on a crowded day esp w/DC folk.

This is a nice trail with a lot of rocks. A good 1300 ft climb in a short bit of time. There were several families hiking. Everyone was nice except the three twenty somethings who couldn’t even say good morning after you step aside for them. Great hike overall.
