This is an awesome trail. I went down laurel branch and came back up river trail. Very rocky, lots of leaves, many slippery spots with 45 degree or steeper declines and inclines. I would rate this trail as hard, signs are now posted saying its for experienced hikers only and they aren't wrong. Use caution and bring plenty of water and a first aid kit. Slips and falls are likely.

Great trial, I would rate the difficulty closer to hard than moderate, the descent was very steep and narrow.

I went counter clockwise. The leaves makes the trail slippery and hard to find footings. The scenery is spectacular though. Took me a little over 2 hours plus a few side trails and pictures. Very easy to navigate. It does not cross the river what’s so ever. Snow and spring time would make this trail even more spectacular.

HikingGreat!

Did Laurel Branch down to Center Creek (not River Trail). Would rate this Moderate +++ or Hard - . Last half mile down to the river is near 45 degree slope, very rocky and all covered with fall foliage to make it tricky and difficult underfoot. Worth the effort though - until you realize you have to go back up

Just coming from me, I would not hike this after the fall foliage. I made the mistake of going when the ground was covered with foliage and a good portion were wet. Makes this trail pretty hazardous with slippage and it's already a pretty rocky and narrow trail as is. And the climb up the river trail is already pretty strenuous without the foliage. Overall, it's a pretty decent hike with some interesting views. Worth doing but I agree with most that I would consider this more than moderate than rated here.

Excellent views , trail by river is a little tough, especially in November , but overall worth it if in the area.

I rate this as difficult. Steep, Rocky. Plenty of leaf litter to make the footing treacherous. Extremely beautiful. No one on the trail today but us.

This app description of trail is misleading. I would rate it moderate +++ due to rock and tree falls. The trail does not cross the river, that would require special equipment. Scenery is beautiful. Park posts many signs saying experienced hikers only.

Very difficult trail but great scenery. Bluffs, overlooks, river and waterfalls. Took us 4 hours with a stop at the river bank to refuel. Only one snake and no bears.

Awesome rock formations and overlooks. Definitely NOT a moderate trail. The elevation changes and terrain were pretty intense.

The trail is strenuous rather than the moderate rating given here. Lots of beautiful natural features to see. But plan to be gone all day. Take plenty of water and a walking stick.

This trail is harder than the moderate rating suggests. Very steep and rocky in many sections. Lots of overlooks and rock formations. Some parts need better markings so best to keep looking on the app to make sure you’re still on the trail.

A trail with some steep hills, long ascents, and rough rocky terrain. Can be a bit intimidating but it's all very doable as long as you are careful and take breaks. Look out for colored trail markers in the rougher areas. If you can handle that you will be rewarded with some stunning views and an invigorating hike!

Good trail we got lucky with very nice weather. As others mentioned the trail is very narrow and tral markings are not great. Actually, could not fine the turn down to the river but we were able to catch back up with the trail. There is a really great outcropping with good hand and foot holds you can climb and get some great views as you ascend up... little bit off the path but worth backtracking.
