Quick hike, awesome view at the end. A 360 view if the mountains. Even took our 20 month old in a off road stroller but was a little rocky going up some parts for that but still worth it. When you get to the AT stay to the two right paths and you’ll make a loop back. Happy hiking!

Very easy, short hike with beautiful picturesque views at the top. Will be very crowded on nice weekend days. Little rock scramble at the end.

Great hike to take children and pets on. Nice rock formation to scramble around on and find a spot to eat a snack on!

This week of clouds finally parted to give us an amazing view from above the clouds. There is also an earthcache here for those familiar.

We did this as part of a 13 mile loop that included the AT, Furnace Mountain and Blackrock Summit. Going counterclockwise and starting from the Blackrock Summit parking area, we went down the AT to take a left along the ridges down to the fire road. From there we went up to Furnace Mtn, then on to Trayfoot. As Trayfoot is not much to look at, we continued to the Blackrock Summit Spur trail and saved the best views for the end of our trek. Great 360 degree views from the top and the rock formations are fun to walk around on. We saw a "rock" guitar and met a huge black bear on the trail down to the parking area. Great trail offering lots of variety.

Loved this hike. Ends at an outcrop of rocks perfect for the view. If you're really adventurous you can climb the rocks to the top of the outcrop for a great panoramic view.

Nice little loop. Can be kind of busy in the middle of the day, but overall good view.

Nice hike through a pretty cool rock field with classic Shenandoah views of the mountains and valley off to the side. Really pretty fall colors.

Beautiful hike and awesome views. Rock scramble at the top is sweet. Take the hike down to the hut for a slightly longer hike.

Another way to go is to stop at the Blackrock Gap parking lot and follow the AT up, makes for a little longer hike and you pass the Blackrock Shelter which is interesting to visit, Dad was hut-keeper there in the 90's

Blackrock is one of my favorites and it never gets old, no matter how many times you go! It's easy enough for all levels and it's a great hike any time of the year!

Great hiking experience for kids. Short trail to fantastic rock scrambling and fantastic views. My 5 year old explored for two hours and wanted to stay longer. 3 year old had a blast too, but had to be watched closely as there are some spots where little ones can get into trouble. Overall highly recommend and we will definitely return!

Short and easy hike to a spectacular rock summit with an amazing view. The trailhead is at MP 84.8 on the Skyline Drive. The nearest restroom is at the Dundo Picnic Grounds, MP 83.7. Blue blazes mark the trail. We were warned that rattlesnakes occasionally sun themselves on the rocks at the summit. We didn't see any snakes, but we did encounter a black bear who was using the trail.

This is a great spot. Short hike up to the rocks, and then just a great view of the surrounding area from atop the rocks.
