Emerald Pond is a beautiful spring fed swimming hole nestled in a small hollow off the Bird Knob Trail. The water has exceptional clarity, and in the summer months is surprisingly warm for a mountain pond. 1.5 miles in you get a beautiful view of Harrisonburg Valley. Campsites are also available near the pond.

poorly marked, ended up on a mt bike path, extra 4 miles. once I got back to it the access road is half the trail. saw what I think was a young black bear.

Fun hike, don’t have to go too far to get the views from the top. The overlooks are definitely nice.
