Quiet, peaceful forest views. On a nice day in September I had the trail to myself, no chatter and no crowds. Good view of the valley. Many spiderwebs when you are on a less-traveled path. The dog handled it fine and enjoyed the trickles of water to drink along the way.

Hiked from Keyser Fireroad to BDS. First part along the AT was beautiful. 50/60 degree weather. Snow was still on the ground....felt like a foot in a few spots.

Once the trail crossed Skyline things got a bit slushier then less snow. The trail from Gravel Spring was muddy/snowy. Lunch at BDS was warm and sunny.

Great day for a hike. Felt like Sochi.

I just hiked that trail yesterday, the end of the summer. Nothing special about it except it's a good exercise on coming the back country. The tresses are big and leafy so i couldn't even see any views, may be it wouldbe a better hike in the fall.

I hiked this as a circuit 12 mile hike about a year ago with my dad. Let's say day 1 was easy downhill and enjoyable. But boy lete tell you day 2 was hell. Reached the valley of bi devils stairs whih has a ton of rock to walk over. Everything was great until we reached "the stairs" where we realized there was about a 1500 foot elevation change and mate even more than that. Nevertheless it was grueling to say the least but very worth the exercise and even more worth the views. Alternatively you could hike down the stairs to start unlike we did.... Truly an awesome hike but quite strenuous especially with camp gear

Added pictures to show the view. I followed the trail on hikingupward and on the Shenandoah National Forest maps......unknown what trail the previous reviewer went on.
