RunningGreat!

Great trail for running because it is well-paved and have markers that show how much distance you traveled. Only issue with this trail is that it is noisy because there are bridges and traffic nearby.

Don't go if this message is still recent, the trail is completely flooded about a quarter mile in, and everything is muddy.

WalkingGreat!Icy

Paved trail that is easy to walk. Nice views of the Appomattox River. There are a few hills that make this one a little more difficult but with it being paved it isn't too hard. Some parts can be icy in the winter.

Despite the fact that it was a bit noisy from surrounding roads, this is a very nice trail. It was clean and the trails were wide enough for walkers and bikers to pass. I only three stars was because I prefer quieter walks.

Nice flat and paved tail for those at a beginner level, with strollers, or just taking your dog for a walk in the summer heat as much of the trail is shaded. I definitely would not say this is a MODERATE level trail. They recently extended (6/20) this trail which is nice and runs into Appamatuck Park which you could start there or the original entrance behind the Colonial Heights Animal Shelter. Sometimes, I will even park at the Holiday Inn near by and gain access to trail there. My biggest negative for this trail is the smell because of the landfill /water treatment plant. However, the smell is only really bad in hot temperatures. Also, if there is a great amount of rain, the trails will be flooded in parts. Overall, if you're looking to go walking, biking, fishing, bird watching, running, or drop your kayak in this is a good spot!

Paved the whole way so the recent rains didn’t flood it out. Nice walk along the river. Plenty of shade and well kept

Easily accessible, paved trail with markers at every 1/10th mile. A nice trail, however the odor from the local landfill really hurts the overall vibe.

Walking

The road to the actual trail goes through an area with a ton of feral cats, it is also behind a Walmart, and just past a animal shelter. So if it looks sketchy your on the right place. the actual trail isn't bad, but the litter from the garbage dump kind of puts a damper on it. It's a popular trail for the locals though. It would be great if the local shelter add it is so close had a dog walking program, or a sign that you could pay to rent a dog for a walk, would have loved that.

First to Review

Okay trail. Better for a run or slow bike ride. The parking lot is full of people just parked there idling their engines. And other cars pulling up to them and driving off after a few seconds. Creepy.
