The Lost Mine is a roughly 2 mile loop trail located just past the Reservoir in Chester, Vermont. The trail features a mine (the lost mine) that was in operation in the late 1800s/early 1900's which is one of only 3 known sources in the world of chesterite - a silicate mineral with a unique crystal structure - which was first discovered here back in 1977. There's not much of a view anywhere along the trail however, the trail does eventually follow a picturesque brook.

This is a relatively easy loop trail. There's not much of a view anywhere along the trail but it's a nice hike through the town forest. There is an old abandoned talc mine along the trail from the early 1900's.
