Great trail! Rocky towards the top but very well maintained. Dog friendly. Beautiful views from the fire tower.

The trail is very heavily trafficked and fairly level to the beaver pond, then it gets rocky and steadily increases in grade up to the top. Overall, this is a great hike for beginners and is very family friendly.

Great view. Towers open. Bring lots of bug spray and wear hiking shoes for the mud. The view is worth it!

We did this hike yesterday (Sunday) and it was fantastic! Stunning 360° view at the top of the fire tower. Only saw 7 other hikers. Top was a bit buggy but not biting insects, plus awesome bumble bees and butterflies. Took us 2 hours out and back, 2.5 to eat a snack and take pictures. If you’ve never done it before, it gets pretty steep just before the top but doesn’t last too long. Make sure to stop and get some amazing eggs on E Hill Rd on your way back!

Perfect conditions (25MAY) and a good hike with a lot of different terrain as you go. Took me (solo today) 2hours out and back. Summit is a small area making it not great when huge groups summit together.

Hiked today. For someone inexperienced, like myself it was tough in spots. Took it slow. Took about 4.5 hours for myself, my wife and sister. All in all it was a good hike no one got hurt. It did get warm as we were finishing.

Did this hike today and it was gorgeous. We were up and back to our car in 2.5 hours, including the half an hour we spent eating lunch and enjoying the views. As someone else said, not much leaf cover yet, so it was hot on this sunny, 75 degree day. Trail was pretty easy to follow, but no blazes or markings. Muddy in spots, but easily avoided by stepping rock to rock. Definitely a great, quick hike.

Beautiful hike on a beautiful day. Could see all the way the Presidentials and of course the Green mountains opposite. Perfect afternoon hike!

Solid trail — as of May 21st 2020 there wasn’t too much foliage cover so it was quite sunny and hot. There’s lots of rocks on trail and the it almost resembles an old rocky river bed. Worth it for the 360 degree view from the fire tower.

Always a nice hike and well maintained trail. Some mud and ice lingering towards the summit but easily navigable. I counted 63 other hikers during the trip (it was a Sunday with good weather). Also, the road to the trailhead has dried out and potholes are navigable.

One of my fav mountains. Can be very icy in the winter time. The tower at the top provides an awesome view

Always a beautiful hike with great views from the tower. Trail conditions are not great in spring, however. Mud at the bottom, ice covered in very slippery ice higher up; remained quite slippery even with spikes and pointy-end hiking poles.

Windy & cold day. Plenty of snow. Packed trail so small 25” MSR’s worked well. I see they added steps on one spot 2/3 the way up. In winter, with a packed trail, it’s a nice smooth path & can move right along. Always a good outing on Spruce Mt. Appears trail is used a lot year round.

Started as a sedate trail on what felt like an ATV trail but got much narrower and steeper starting around halfway up. I snowshoed up in the snow, and it would have been very slippery otherwise. Couldn’t climb the tower because of the snow and couldn’t see the view because of the fog, but it was still a nice hike.

nice hike, but not a great summit for enjoying the views (gotta climb the fire tower)
