WalkingGreat!

This was my first “hike” since a back injury that is still tender so it was a good first test. It’s been a few years since I’ve been on the trail. It’s much more accessible to those that need assistance as almost the whole trail is now either boardwalk or packed crushed stone and wide. Nice gentle stroll, nice view of Breadloaf and Battell Mtns.

Nice little walk on a newly well maintained trail. Robert Frost poems are posted near scenes he describes. No wildlife except typical birds of the area.

WalkingMuddy

We returned to this location a few days ago and it was gorgeous. This time the bridge to the upper trails was accessible (too much snow and ice for our comfort last time) and we were really able to explore. There was a good amount of mud including several large patches of mud that we had to hike around. We are looking forward to returning when there’s less mud so we can explore even more.

Such a lovely trail. Very pretty. When we went in late March the boardwalk was covered in packed snow and icy so we did the loop but didn’t venture up into the woods. We went again 4/18 and it was absolutely beautiful. There was no one there. So peaceful and quiet. There are lots of flowers starting to bloom and the woods are coming alive again. Parts of the trails into the woods are very muddy but we were able to go for awhile at a slower pace. This was such a wonderful find.

Hiking

This is a nice walk suitable for any skill level. This is the hike you want to take your mom on so she can say she went for a hike in Vermont. It features a river, some nice forest areas, a large field with some blueberry bushes and a view of the mountains. Well maintained, no steep parts and I believe the boardwalk section if handicap accessible.

Lovely short trail that gets you out into nature without much effort. Diverse ecosystems and views of mountains. The bridge is impressive, and there are opportunities to go down to the river. The poetry is wonderful as well, and adds a nice touch.

Nice, easy 1 mile loop. Lots of nature to see, labeled plants and trees for those that need it, not much incline at all, minor roots in the trial in spots. Overall nice stretch of the legs walk and great for kids. Nice spot to stop and get fresh air, eat and read great writing.

We did the 1 mile loop in our snowshoes. The path was easy to follow and a bit icy in spots which was not a problem with snowshoes. We met others in boots which I would not recommend in snowy January. Reading Robet Frost’s poems throughout the walk only added to the enjoyment.

Nice trail for the most part, steady inclines. The only complaints would be the bugs were unbearable and the trail was pretty muddy due to recent rain. Other then that I’d definitely come back. There is access to the water as well!

A pleasant trail with wild berries and a brook. For a more “moderate” experience, be sure to climb the hill to the upper trails (see my photos of the “Afternoon Delight” and “Sundown” trails up there).

Wonderful nature walk with added bonus of Robert Frost poems. Take as much time as you need to read the poems and reflect on them. Benches available by some poems. Well marked and maintained trail. Would do this again.

Trail was well maintained. Very easy to hike. There were 2 other trails that went up the mountain for a longer hike if you have more time. The only disappointment was hearing the traffic because it's so close to the main road.

This trail is perfect for a mid-fall walk. The foliage is absolutely stunning and the walk is just the right length (about a mile). Take your time and enjoy it!
