Great trail. Hike to the top and climb the fire tower for a remarkable view!

HikingGreat!

Very nice moderate trail. We were 4 hrs 25 minutes including lunch and climbing the fire tower at the top. The tower is just a few steps to the right of trail summit. It’s got rocks and roots to negotiate but it’s nothing overwhelming. As others have mentioned it’s a solid 6 miles up and down, probably a hair over. Great day and if you do the trail the tower is a must!

HikingGreat!

Did this hike on Sunday, 8/30. It was about 60 degrees when we started but pretty chilly at the top. More of an incline for the first third and the last third. Mile 2 was fairly level. Top of the fire tower offered surprising views of several Okemo lift lines. We walked over to the Summit Lodge, got a hot chocolate and used the bathroom. About 8 miles RT. Hard on the knees going down which I did not expect as it did not seem that steep going up. This was definitely one of our most favorite fire tower hikes so far!

Nice, moderate trail. No view at summit unless you climb tower or if you take short walk through the woods you come to the chair lift/ top of the ski trails which is a nice view and place to hang

It was a great workout. Definitely worth doing it if you are looking for a challenge. The view was beautiful, but this is over 6 miles

The hike is a solid moderate difficulty. There was a good mix of up-hill with more flat portions. Once you get to the top, can’t see anything. You have to climb the fire tower for the views. Because of Covid we had to wait on line for 10-15 min for our turn to climb the water tower. Once up there, the views were amazing but because there was a line of people, we felt bad spending too much time up there to take it all in. Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the need to climb the tower to see anything.

Awesome hike up Okemo! Plenty of parking at Healdville trailhead (if you get there in the morning). The trail is very well marked, well maintained, and manageable for hikers of all experience levels. Took us about 3 hours round trip. You can get a view at the top from a fire tower but unfortunately it was pretty crowded so we decided to get a partial view at a quiet spot on the trail instead. Recommend this one!

Great hike. I was a little intimidated by it but it was totally doable and well worth it. Nice steep incline for the first half up, then it levels off for a bit before the final push up through a dense rocky pine forest (my favorite part). Good amount of people on the trail so I felt fine solo (it was a Saturday). Well marked trail and amazing views from the fire tower. Highly recommend, especially fall I would imagine.

The view at the top is fantastic. Likely at least a 6 mile trail, 3 up and 3 down.

Great trail! Not a lot of traffic (though did hike it midweek) or bugs. Views from the fire tower at the top were great!

This was my first hike in a long time and I enjoyed every minute of it. Took awhile to get up there but the view is worth it. The forest is quiet and peaceful. Not many other hikers on the trail.

Really fun trail! It definitely seemed longer than 5.5, I’d say much closer to 7 mi. The trail was really well marked and the view at the top of the tower was great. Check out the little trail past the tower by the ski lift, so pretty! Bug spray is a MUST this time of year.

Great hike... trail well laid out. Unfortunately we don't have much to report as it turned out to be a bad weather day with lots of rain and no view.

I ran this trail and it was tough. As many reviews have said the elevation early on is steady and consistent so I had to stop to take a breath a few times on my way up (55min from the head of the trail to the fire tower). But the view at the top is so worth it. Definitely recommend going up there on a sunny, clear day once the morning fog has burned off because the 360 degree views of VT, NH, and NY are amazing.

HikingBugsGreat!

This trail is challenging for me because it is pretty consistently steep in some places, particularly near the bottom. I'm in ok shape, but definitely needed to pause to catch my breath. That said, it's not a "hard" hike in that there isn't any need to scramble or constantly step around large rocks and roots. In that sense, it's good for active kids 8 and up who are willing to hike for this long. The panoramic views from the fire tower are breathtaking. As others have said, this hike is closer to 6.5 miles round trip (my phone didn't record the end accurately because of low battery).

Great trail very worn down, steep and rocky I. Spots but mostly just a nice climb! Took us 4 hours total on our first try- we hike a lot- and workout often- got caught in a torrential downpour at the top so extra footing time was needed. Would definitely do again maybe even on snowshoes! One thing- no East view from The top you have to climb the fire tower.
