The North Trail starts along the eastern side of Lake Willoughby and is a shorter trip to the top than the South Trail. It's well maintained, easily followed and is notable for its views of the lake and neighboring Mount Hor.

I really enjoyed this trail! The trailhead is not visible from the road but it wasn’t hard to find. There are several overlooks and each one is worth the stop. When you get to the summit, hike just a little bit past it to see another great view that looks over New Hampshire. The North Trail also connects to the South and East trails so you can hike down a different side of the mountain if you choose.

This is one of my favorite hikes as it is definitely more about the journey than reaching the top. The best views are on the way while the summit is basically in the woods with no view at all. Don't let that deter you. The views from the bluffs are striking and well worth the trip. Beautiful hike!
