Lots of animals. There were salamanders every couple steps, a big green frog, and a weird chicken-sized flightless bird. 5/5!

I loved this trail! took it to Clara bow trail. Clara bow was challanging but BEAUTIFUL. I was a little nervous of a possible bear encounter due to the cave openings in the area. took the long trail back to nebraska after hanging at Taylor lodge and checking out the overlook. easy hike. first 1/3 mile was pretty steep up... but the rest had plenty of flat sections to balance out.

Lovely little trail. If you want a bit more exertion, go over to the Taylor Shelter. Bit rockier and challenging. About a 4.5 on my ratings scale.

This trail was very nice, my wife and I just hiked it at the beginning of april. Still a bit icy in spots. We made it to the long trail and took it north towards the campground. The snow was deeper and we kept falling through because of the thaw, so at .7 miles in we turned around. Looking forward to coming back and going further

Great trail that had some flat parts to recover along with lots of ups and downs. We enjoyed having a snack at Taylor Lodge, only complaint (from some in our group) was that we didn't get the satisfaction of a peak.

Great hike! Easy to moderate hike, some small rock areas but no scrambles, great foliage, nice small waterfall. At the top Taylor Lodge is great! Would love to camp overnight at some point. Off to the left there is a small trail to an overlook of the lake. I will keep this was on my “repeat hike” list!

We hiked this Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Was quite a nice hike. Not crowded. We started late (3PM or so). Got up and down well before it got dark. Nice mix of woods, a couple of small ponds, and a spectacular view from the spur trail off from the lodge. We ventured up the Clara Bow trail on the way up. That was quite interesting...a bit of all fours, a cave with a ladder climb up 10-15' to get through. You're carrying the dog on the ladder climb if you take that option! A fair number of backpackers headed to the lodge when we were up there.

Great easy/moderate quick trail. Trail is maintained very well and was not too busy on a weekday.

almost as much downhill as there is uphill so going out is tiring. also this is the other side of a view i have already seen so it was disappointing.

A beautiful hike through the woods on a beautiful summer day. Tried to take a side trip on the Clara Bow trail; if you have a dog, I wouldn't recommend it. I echo others when I say to take the spur trail to the top of the overlook from the lodge. Make sure you bring (and apply) insect repellent.

Really fun trail but goes up and down and very steep and rocky in some areas. Plenty of parking. Barely any mud!

Great hike for kids. Lots of variety of landscapes, with a cool beaver pond along the way. Make sure to keep going after Taylor Lodge up the short, steep spur trail to the lookout, with a great view of the lake and mountains. We took the Clara Bow Trail at the beaver pond instead of the Long Trail, and I highly recommend it. Same distance, but the rocks and caves are really interesting on Clara Bow. There’s a fun ladder too. More moderate than easy, especially if you take Clara Bow Trail.

Great hike on this fall day. There are 2-3 steep areas on this hike.

This is a nice hike to do if you’re looking to spend a little time outside without exerting yourself too much. Although much of it is fairly rolling, and the scenery becomes quite beautiful after you link up with the long trail, the first and last stretches are a bit steep. I would say this trail ranks closer to moderate than to easy. It comes out at Taylor Lodge, which looks like a nice place to to spend a night if you wanted to do some extended hiking.
