HikingGreat!

Beautiful day - great trail- still snowy- road from warren is still closed so you’ll have to add that to your mileage if coming from that route

Great conditions. Definitely need spikes at the least, would recommend snowshoes as it’s super easy to posthole. Wore snowshoes from the gap up, and all the way back down because of melting snow.

Confessions of a post holer: I had read that this trail was nice and packed down so I didn't bring snowshoes. I would highly recommend them for the less traveled section before you got the battel trail. Otherwise great views at the top and done really good spots to slide down if you have some waterproof gear.

The snow was generally boot/calf-deep when times were good and thigh-high when things weren't so fun. The extra effort is absolutely worth it, especially on the tail end of a storm. Bring snowshoes if you got 'em.

Hiked bottom to top and back, 7.6 miles in 3hrs 40 mins from the parking closure. Ice forming significantly on top 1 to 2 miles, spikes were almost necessary. Hike this in one or two weeks, proper gear will be needed.

Beautiful, serene — didn’t see a soul. But the 1.2 very uphill walk on a paved road to the trailhead definitely adds time to the hike. Be advised!

Gorgeous hike. Very snowy. Recommend boots and spikes as there is some icy bits and some frozen water. Gaiters or snow pants probably wouldn’t go amiss either, and something to slide down on makes the downhill fun :)

Thank goodness for Rishi’s review - we knew what we were getting into! Due to the road closure there’s an extra ~1.5 miles each way (uphill on the way there, downhill on the way back), but it was well worth it - beautiful trail and incredible views at the peak, even though it was overcast and snowing. It did take us almost 6 hours total probably due to the extra mileage and inclement weather (very muddy and slippery!), and we weren’t able to find the plane at the top, but still worth the trip.

View from the top was outstanding. A bit muddy and a bit windy. Still caught some nice colors. Note: The road to the trail head is gated off adding an extra 1.5 miles up hill to get there. See my recording for more info.

It was a very very hard hike, it was extremely uncomfortable at times, but the views were worth it all the way. I loved the experience, and would do it again sometime.

Beautiful trail! Definitely hard. We hiked up the day after a big thunderstorm, so it was a little muddy and slick in some places. Breathtaking trees and little peaks of views on the way up. You are rewarded with a one-of-a-kind view at the top after a tough steep climb. Lots of folks but worth it.

Great hike. Ended up being a bit longer than AllTrails said it would. Probably around 6 miles. It was a clear day in October. ~35 degrees up top but stunning views of the adirondacks and the whites along with the greens. Walk over the top and head down the trail a bit. Hit the left where a cairn is built right off the trail to see a small planet crash. The end scramble to the summit was a little tough, but nothing too crazy. Wear boots, it was a bit muddy.
