The balcony is just that your balcony, it is not a huge opening. But it is a pretty view. Trail is pretty technical in parts

Great incline for a quick hike. A little wet on the trail, but easy to handle. Great view of surrounding northern peeks from the top.

Walking

Great short hike that will still get your heart rate up! As everyone mentions, the first half mile is pretty brutal due to the combination of the elevation gain you get in such a short distance and the terrain. This trail offers lots of fun rock scrambles. It is wet out there due to the time of year and recent rain, so be prepared for some mud! Overall, the view was well worth the effort.

Nice trail! Well maintained and marked. we did the Beane Trail to the Long Trail. Beane trail was gentle incline and then LT is stepper and very muddy. We went to Molly's and back. Beane Trail starts a bit earlier than marked on AllTrails.

Trail head is very hard to spot from the road. The trail sign is down the path covered in trees. Using AllTrails directions on google map we stopped at Appalachian Gap and had to ask other hikers. Amazing fall foliage this weekend. I didn’t think the hike is “hard” or too steep but it has some good sections of scrambling which made it fun. Not too crowded on a Sunday in peak foliage.

The Long Trail north is 50 yards up from the parking lot. The hike is not very long but it is a tough climb almost straight up. Beautiful views are your reward.

Quite strenuous and daunting at times! But also kinda fun. Definitely a good workout, and a great view at the end.

This should be rated as hard , not moderate ! Lots of rocks , up and down , narrow trails on and off! I enjoyed it very much , the views from balcony was great!

I really enjoyed this trial. Low traffic with lots of scrambling which is perfect for me. As folks say the first 1/4 mile is steep and scrambly but not awful. There's a few lighter scrambles up/down after that. mostly just nice meandering. The trail has a lot of rocky spots and exposed roots so wear boots if ya got bad ankles. Overall and nice short and sweet hike with a view that pays off.

This is the most fun hike I‘ve done yet! It’s got some fun rock scrambles, a part where you can climb down on exposed tree roots and down a small stream, and a great view at the end! There’s also a nice overlook right at the top of the first big climb.

Rough terrain, particularly when wet, but well worth it. Right now (late August) the mushrooms are going nuts on the LT. Also, this time of year best to go early to capture sites of the Valley fog, so lovely! Two outlooks, one on the way and one at the top. On the way looks out over Mad River Valley, the Balcony looks out Northwest toward Waterbury/Stowe. The pup had to do some parkour in places :-) but most had a walk-around available for the hand+feet sections.

The view from the balcony is well worth the effort. We found the trail to be moderate with some challenging but fun difficult sections. I would even go as far as to say the difficult sections were our favorite parts.
