I took this trail in June, there was miriads of hungry mosquitoes. If you didn't apply bug spray, it would be hard to enjoy the nature. Other than that the trail is good to take with kids .

My husband and I were there yesterday. The area has gotten a lot of rain so it was very wet but it was still beautiful. Very peaceful.

Nice easy trail with beautiful views. Note that the GPS directions aren’t accurate. Simply take Lowell Lake Road off Rte 11 and follow it about 2 miles.

I have hiked this trail in all seasons and each has its advantages. The best thing about hiking this in the winter is you have it pretty much to yourself. We saw some ice fishermen and one other hiker with a dog. Our dog loves this trail. It is easy with only a few inclines and goes from a wide path along the lake to some wooded sections. Even with snow the trail was easy to navigate and follow-we took snowshoes but did not need-crampons may be more beneficial but we were fine with our hiking shoes. Depending on conditions you could complete between one and a half to two hours at a leisurely pace. It took us about 2 hours with some stops for photos and to give treats to our dog! This hike is one of my go to’s in the area.

The lake is beautiful and healthy w.r.t. wildlife (fish, turtles, birds). The path was very nice, piney underfoot alot of the way, a few nice small streams, a couple nice small clearings, and a lot of the path was along the lake with nice views. Only negative is it was fairly buggy so bring bug spray. Trail was very easy and pretty much flat the whole way. I would definitely recommend.

This is why we love Vermont. Don't tell peeps of this lovely place. Bugs... smugsy... deal with it if it is the season. We saw m the lake ... 300m / 400m and it takes me (the slow one) 20mins each way.... very relaxing ... so nice

Clean, well maintained trail! No so much a hike for views as most of the trail is in the woods. Better suited for a trail run. You can easily walk to the lake off trail or at picnic areas. Lowell cemetary on the route. The park and lake are beautiful! Awesome views and great for paddling and fishing!

This trail has been discovered by a lot of dog walkers. Easy and scenic. A lot of diversity.

Very buggy, take a bug repellant if you’re thinking of going on this trail. Nothing much to see during the trail either.

I walked this trail in late May with my 3 kids (ages 3, 5, and 11.) The trail was nice but it was VERY buggy. Make sure to have bug gear if you go around this time. Otherwise, the weather was perfect and it was a nice walk. There was lots to see: the lake, abandoned buildings, people fishing, an old cemetery, and canoes. The trail was poorly marked towards the end, but we didn’t have difficulty staying on it. We started/finished at the ranger’s headquarters where we parked. It was definitely closer to 3.5 miles long. Overall, we would hike it again.

Super fun to explore with my pup! Creepy abandoned campgrounds gives it a Friday the 13th vibe. Revolutionary cemetery on a hill is also fun to explore. Fun, mellow, beautiful hike.

This is a great little hike, very casual and great for kids or inexperience hikers. It's more of a walk in the woods around Lowell lake, very level terrain with little change in elevation. There is also a boat launch for canoes/kayaks and it's a great spot for paddling. Lots of cool abandoned cabins from an old summer camp that are fun to explore as well.
