Great hike with first snowfall of the season. Diverted from original trail .
Great hike. Very steep in beginning. Took E to A to J. Take J when you get to the lift and it’ll take you to the peak. Very steep coming down the road. Great views and not crowded
Good trail but steep for the first mile and a half. We went up the E route and down Great Northern. Not many people
Amazing view along the way up E trail! Can be slippery especially on the way down.
Very nice. Marked well. Needs to be better directions on where trailhead starts. Heard it’s just a gravel trail down so took the Gondola down.
Easy high peak! Steep ascent up E and especially A to summit. Very easy down C, can basically jog down the mountain in <1h. And great views from the top. Fall colors a bit past peak but still very nice. E was a nice trail with frequent good views as your crisscrossed ski trails, but the trail was variable too with parts in the forest. E was mixed between being very steep and then some flat portions. A is very very steep up the cleared land under the chair lift to right next to the peak lodge under the chair lift. J is an easy loop past the gondolas and peak lodge around the actual summit. C is a gravel road down so not a pretty trail but fast and easy and decent views as you descend. I didn’t think E was labeled very well at the start, we were a bit confused finding it and then another time later on. To start if your back is to the Michelob ultra porch, go left and then just past the first ski lift on the right is a little yellow arrow on a tree pointing into the woods. That’ll start you onto the E trail even though I’m not sure it’s technically the start. PS I forgot to start recording until a bit onto the trail so times and distance not accurate. Also did E to A to J on summit and then C down.
Did this on a Saturday around midday. Took the E trail up which was awesome! Steep in certain sections but it goes thru a variety of terrain and plenty of vistas during the multiple ski trails it crosses. It took a little over an hour to hike up and the trail wasn’t very crowded (we did see people coming down as the day got later so get there in the AM). We took the gondola down (don’t have to pay if you hike up) as the trail wouldn’t have been a fun descent. Amazing views and great hike
Tale of two trails! The best way to enjoy this trail is to go clockwise (follow the “E” hiking trail signs from the parking lot by the Michelob Ultra party deck) and ascend through beautiful wooded canopy while crisscrossing several ski trails up the consistent incline. The last 400 yards is quite steep right under the gondola. The views at the top around the Peak Lodge are worth it all. We didn’t learn about the Tippety Top Trail until after we finished but it sounds like a little 10 minute spur for even greater views. To continue, follow the wooden bridge path across the mountain face and descend comfortably down the maintenance road. We went counter clockwise and had to grind it out up the maintenance road and the knees and ankles were feeling it coming down through the woods in the small rocks and tree roots. The ski slopes and equipment with no snow made it interesting and the fall colors were incredible.
Great hike. Moderate difficulty with some good elevations. We took the E Trail then the C Trail. I oils recommend starting on C and finishing on E.
We went up E and it was awesome. Even though they call it a loop I would go down the same way I came up. Coming down C was miserable.
Easy/moderate hike, a lot of flat ski trails with some natural portions, nice view, but this loop does not go to the peak so you need to switch over to the road to get to the peak and the radio tower is not the peak, it is up behind the tower. Overall, I thought it was cool/different experience hiking through an empty active Ski Resort and it was not crowded, we were the only ones hiking on a Sunday morning, but as far as all the 5 high peaks go, it is the least challenging.
added the peak to the trail. very good views but would recommend doing it in reverse next time for better views walking down.
Gorgeous trail! I would say pretty challenging overall. Took the c loop on the way up which was 2 miles of steep incline. No woods or anything, just loose rock. The last quarter of the way up and the first part of the way down were the hardest. Very steep descent as well. Trailing through the forest was nice too. Gorgeous views on the entire hike!
Took Loop E to all the way up & loop C to down. Hike was great scenic. Again 5star
Hike was scenic. Took E loop to go up and then C loop to get back to parking spot.
The Killington Peak loop is deceiving, because you aren’t on the peak of Killington Mountain. You are on the peak of the ski mountain two different peaks. To climb Killington Mountain there is only one way up the Bucklin Trail. Oh well the loop was an easy warm up. I will try the Bucklin Trail next time I can get up here.
The hiking trails are not marked well. We wound up going over to Bear Mtn. And hiking up the Jug ski trail under the chair lift. We did find the A, J And C trails after we got to the top. Came back down the C trail which was well marked but just a walk down a dirt road. All in all a beautiful day to be outside so that was a blessing.
Wonderful and eerie, hiking under chairlifts and on top of ski slopes. I didn't do the full loop, but I hiked up to Skye Peak. The views were incredible and i believe the path was fairly well marked. I personally explored beyond the trail I wanted to follow, but things were well kept and there were maps all around so I was never in danger of getting lost. Highly recommend
E is beautiful, C is just a road, views from the top are nice, lovely piney aroma
Nice trail, moderate, took E up, then A, then J loop, and C down. C is very easy and fast.
We did this for my daughters annual hike, The Savage Summit. 4 years old — so 4000 foot summit. (1 yo was 1000ft, 2yo was 2000, etc). The hike is good. This is the C trail which essentially follows a service road. My wife convinced us to cheat after summiting and take the gondola down haha. They didn’t ask for passes on the ride down so that’s $17 per person saved!
did C trail up and E trail down. would recommend. Pretty good hike for moderate hikers. Fun views at the top!
Beautiful. Went up the C trail and down the E. Best of both worlds.
