The long loop trail was pretty hard to follow at times, not well marked. If you go out and back, it is on an old road and very easy to follow.
About 1/4 to 1/2 mile or so of the west side of DHT is totally gone- washed out 6-8 feet deep (or more) times entire width of trail. Some water, mud. lots of rocks - impassable (?) Trail from ridge down to orange plastic fence is wonderful, but trail ends abruptly. No warning signs or indicators. Unclear on purpose of orange netting to the side... Review (below) states that trail was in good condition seven months ago (fall '18?) so damage appears to be very recent...
Beautiful
If you enter from the Berlin Pond side, the trail forks about 1/3 of the way. Go left and you will end up on the ridge line, which offers a solid but not terribly strenuous hike. As others have noted, there isn't much of a view when there is foliage on the trees (despite there being a "Berlin Pond Overlook"). I've know this part of the trail to be pretty waterlogged (almost impassable) after a heavy rain (but the creek is beautiful at these times). If you go right at the fork, you will be on the Darling Road Trail, which terminates at the Darling Road. This trail goes gently up and then descends more steeply. If you do an out-and-back trip, the return trip will be more difficult than outward trip. There isn't much of a view but a beautiful stretch of birch trees occupy nearly the entire back side of the mountain and play with the light in a striking and mysterious way.
Easy hike. No views, not in summer at least. The route shown above is incomplete. There is a loop that goes over the peak that makes this a bit more substantial. But, again, no views.
Nice trail! currently open on weekends although chain is left up- parking @ Berlin pond. Being logged m-f
Cool trail! We saw atv's and bikes. A little buggy and over grown but it was a nice hike 4 mi hike to the loop and then coming down by the ridgeline trail.
Loop and Ridgeline trails were unmarked and a bit challenging to follow with multiple forks. Well maintained though, and not too difficult.
