We paddled around the pond in our kayaks on a beautiful fall day. Watch out for hidden stumps.

This is a really nice little lake with completely undeveloped shoreline. Nice and bug free this mid September weekend. The only negative is the huge number of barely submerged stumps in some parts of the lake. Normally we'd like to paddle marshy backwater areas but I suspect many trees were cut before the lake was dammed and there are LOTS of old stumps lurking just an inch or so below the surface at just the right depth to really get you stuck in a kayak or canoe. With someone in the bow of a canoe you might stand a chance at seeing them. In a kayak, you can't see below the surface out in front of your boat. If you just stay clear of the stumpy areas you should be ok.

Nice easy trail through the woods from the parking lot, but we found that the orange trail disappeared a little less than halfway around the lake (walking counterclockwise from the eastern access point). The hashes were still on the trees, but after about a mile the trail had not been maintained, and the underbrush was too thick to continue (unless you're looking for a bushwhacking adventure). Still a great evening walk with the dog (lots of spots for the dog to swim). There is also a yellow trail that diverged away from the lake edge which we did not follow. Great sunset views over the lake, we had a gorgeous evening sunshower from under the cover of the trees. It looks like a nice place to put in a kayak. Wear your bug spray!

We snowshoed this hike in mid-feb. this was an easy hike for our family of four with kids 7 & 11. Although covered in fresh snow the trail was easy to follow although we did walk on the lake for a while. It was a fun easy 2 hr hike where you can make it as long as you want by walking on ice, use your judgement on ice conditions. We rented gear from Norse House in Stratton. In July we came back to Kayak the pond. Nice and calm and scenic. Unfortunately there is no place to stop to have a picnic.

It's an easy shaded walk in the woods boarded by the pond. The trail itself needs some clearing from fallen trees etc. A good brisk walk for me and my pup. Super easy- wish it were longer...
