Went up Frost Trail to Maple Ridge to summit at the Forehead and then care back down Maple Ridge and continued the loop though the Rock Garden and Butler Trail back to the parking lot. Highly recommend, pretty challenging hike with scrambling sections (on Maple Ridge) not for novice hike, but absolutely beautiful and amazing views. Muddy and buggy in some sections but not bad. Frost and Butler trail moderate; Maple Ride was difficult.

Ascended Butler to Wampahoosa to Forehead and Descended Wampahoosa to Frost- about 5 miles round trip. Great hike. Steep incline all the way up. The decent is exposed rock face, which was fun and also hot.

Crevasses on rock garden are very technical with current snow/ice conditions.

The frost trail has some beautiful viewpoints. A little snow on the climb, the last quarter mile of incline on the way to butler lodge was very icy. I had crampons and that was helpful, however without an ice pick there were some nerve racking areas. I ended up avoiding a lot of ice by adding about a mile and a half of off trail bushwhacking. The decline to butler lodge is snowy for the first half, but packed and slushy. The bottom is relatively dry considering all the run off. Loved the hike and would like to do it again this summer when the ice is gone and the trail is less technically difficult.

Frost trail has quite a few amazing lookouts and is certainly a good time. It is nice to do the rock garden cutoff into the butler lodge trail that way you can do a loop rather then an in and out. There is just one section in the rock garden trail that is a little dicey with all the ice melting. Will certainly do this loop again!

Icy, rock garden had deep snow. Spooked a very large black bear going up Frost Trail.

Holy crap! Hiked this on Sunday - did the reverse - Butler to rock to frost. Got stuck in a snow squall on rock trail and most of the markings are on the ground. The hike is gorgeous but dangerous if not fully prepared with back up batteries etc (cell phone died) to navigate without trail markings!

Great trail with great views. Difficult at times especially on the way up. Lots of bugs on the way down. Did this in early August

I would recommend going up the east side. The views coming down the west side are phenomenal.

Took the Butler Lodge trail to Wompahoofus to Maple Ridge to sumit the chin. Butler Lodge was a solid moderate trail and was well marked. Wompahoofus and Maple Ridge were definitely more challanging. Took Maple Ridge to Frost back down to create a loop. You run into significantly more people on Maple Ridge than the other trails and there's some pretty steep rock walls to scramble down. This route was more rocky on the way down than up. Good workout, amazing views!
