More of a walk than a hike but a very nice walk. Offseason so no charge, no hassle, no other people even! The straight part is flat by the lake though occasionally bumpy from roots. The uphill is brief and involves some road as it takes you to the camping areas. No ice yesterday and no mud, but we crossed a couple tiny mountain streams.

Despite this app stating that dogs are allowed on leash on this trail - they are not allowed at all. They are only allowed on the Vista trail. We were hoping for a nice relaxing walk around the lake. The person at the gate happily took our money and then looked in the back seat and said that since we have dogs with us we were super limited as to where we could go.

Emerald Lake itself is very beautiful. It was nice to see so many families enjoying a day at the lake. This hike takes you through Camping Area C as the loop portion before and after meandering along the lake’s edge on one side (train tracks on the other prohibit you from walking the entire lake). This was an enjoyable hike. Very shady. Not too many bugs.

Beautiful hike around the lake took my three year old out and he had no problems so it really is an easy hike one we’ll go on again

Pretty easy trail. Nice lake with very clean and clear water. Very peaceful!

Very serene area. I walked to the beginning of the loop and back, since a microburst storm fell upon me, but nonetheless a beautiful trail with lots of lichen and mushrooms to discover. Looks like a perfect kayaking spot too, if you want to spend the money to rent one of theirs. (It would be difficult to lug yours down to the put-in area.)
