Fun hike. Took my 9 year old daughter and it was a bit tough for her, especially the middle third on the way up which gets steep. But rewarded by a nice view at the firetower on the first peak before the main peak.

fertile saturated soils support a fine array of spring ephemerals on this quiet assent. gradual climb but consistent. wouldn't rate as difficult, but it'll take the breath out of you. not a mountain for its summit, but for what you see along the way. great for shoulder season hikes, ramps, and bicknell's thrush.

One of the New England Hundred Highest. We did this trail on a hot, humid, buggy day just before the Memorial weekend. The access road off Upper Hollow Rd in Dorset, VT is dirt and gets fairly rough. We parked in an open area, probably used for snowmobile parking in winter. The trail follows the stream up to the col and then continues along the ridge. The trail is steep, especially after the remains of an old house. We stopped at the old tower and then topped Dorset and walked over to North Dorset. The existing trails do NOT always match up with what's on the map. The only view is from the old tower site.
