Hiking

Awesome hike! Just over 2 miles (in and out combined) to a beautiful overlook and view of Pico Mountain with more mountains in the distance. Uphill/rocky and can get a little icy/snowy once you get up in elevation. Hiking boots recommended year round and crampons for winter time. PARKING INFO: GPS to McGrath’s Irish Pub to find parking lot to the right of pub and Long Trail Inn. Trail is to the right and starts rocky.

Fun hike up! Super muddy this time of year and slick coming down. To those I passed on the trail, sorry about my coonhound howling at you.

AllTrails is wrong yet again on distance. It is a 2.2 round trip trail. As for the actual hike, muddy this time of year in March. But made for a cool hike along the snow melt river haha. Gorgeous view at the top of killington. Would be a dope rock climb too but I didn’t have my rack. ALL TRAILS GET YOUR DISTANCES RIGHT!!

Hiking

Great little trail. It was a narrow, packed snow / ice trail, mostly deep packed snow. The only caution is the many deep sinkholes on the edges where others have sunk.. but just don’t step in ‘em! Beautiful snowy forest hike with a decent view at the end. Others had their dogs with them. A beautiful day and a beautiful little trail

Awesome and fun! Great challenge for beginners like myself and my loved one. Please ignore my time. I was taking photographs along the way and paused multiple times.

11/9/20 2A, 3C- 11, 14 & 15. Trail rated DIFFICULT according to posted information at trailhead. Lots of rocks and mud. Hiking shoes were much appreciated on this terrain. Suggest a hiking stick or pole for adults. I’m glad we didn’t bring our dog on this one. Boulder at the top has amazing views but has sheer drop offs so be mindful. Keep the kids’ phones, not worth the selfie of inexperienced hikers. Check sunset time. We saw too many youngsters starting in without enough time to finish before dark. We offered a smile, a warm greeting & a friendly reminder that sunset was at 4:30pm. Many were surprised. A great hike that got our blood pumping. Teens were focused and appreciated the challenges. Nice outing for families in moderate to good shape. Coming back down isn’t easy on the knees for the 45+ crowd. Enjoyed the hike & treated ourselves to beverages & desserts at McGrath’s Irish Pub inside the Inn at the base of the trail. Memories for a lifetime! Hope our kids bring their kids here one day.

The summit is definitely the best part of this trail. It is well marked, but was quite muddy after a couple days of rain. The first 1/4 mile is very rocky so plan on doing some bouldering.
