Trail was great a bit muddy but not too bad. There was a fair amount of traffic heading to the overlook. The back half of the loop had some icy spots heading towards willards gap.

The trail is pretty icy right now and I wouldn’t suggest attempting it without spikes. The view from the deer leap overlook is well worth the minimal effort. We looked around for a view from the top of mountain, but were unable to find one.

Great little hike! Based on other's comments, I went straight away to the over look spur. It did not disappoint! Incredible view! Micro spikes are a must this time of year. I'll be doing this one again!!!!

Great view, near the summit the trail becomes narrow and beautiful.

Hiked Oct 14, 2020. If I had one suggestion for you on this trail it would be to make sure you take the little turnoff for the overlook. I didn't do this because I was on a timecrunch against the sun setting, so I opted to go all the way to the top of the Deer Leap mountain thinking htere is a better view-- there is NOT! So do not make my mistake. It can be a bit of a huff and puff scramble in a few places. Recommended to wear boots after a rain as some places get muddy, and as well the boots would be a good support for the rocky terrain in a few spots, but otherwise pretty easy hike. Also, I want to caution people to keep their eyes open for the trail just after the overlook spur if going in a clockwise direction. I had trouble finding it, because as it turns out it is a sharp switchback. There are two other seemingly possible paths (as marked by other hikers' trampled paths) but they lead further nowhere into the forest. Overall good but if going for the views then just do the overlook and you're done. But I suppose I enjoyed being on the AT for a mile :)

The overlook was enjoyable, but very crowded on a Saturday afternoon. In general the hike was good, but I would do it in reverse ending with the overlook/walk back down.

Deer leap is beautiful one of the best trails but the catamount trail is wet even in the fall for get about going in the spring. It is also at times hard to follow and goes of the trail on all trails markings. It is a cross country trail.

Moderate trail skill level Clearly marked albeit mildly primitive. Great views of neighboring mountains / ski resort. A bit rocky at times at the onset. Great mix of elevations!

trail was marked well. Definitely not easy. b But I am out of shape as well. I have been hiking but I realize now on flat ground or very few hills. So if you are not in the best shape skip maybe skip this one for now

Really fun hike, a bit steep at points (wouldn’t exactly classify it as an easy hike), but a great view from Deer Leap Rock. Great time overall in the woods of Vermont.

Great hike, well marked, and great view! I agree that this is not a beginner hike due to the rockiness and steepness. But for someone with a little bit of experience it’s a great trail!

A pleasant walk in the shade. Not sure it is easy though. Many rocks - some quite slippery- and roofs and a steep section. The view from the rock enjoyable although if views are what you are after there will be more spectacular walks.
