Gate closed for parking so people are parking on the side of the road. Only a bit of snow on the trail left, no need to break out the microspikes. Could see if being really icy after a freeze though—lots of water on the trail.

Laura Cowles is NOT for dogs. Dry on Sunset ridge above the tree line but muddy below. Warm. 65 on the trail (Nov 7)

Freaking awesome. Wind was crazy, the summit was like going North of the Wall. Loved it.

Difficult trail, not recommended for younger kids at wet / rainy conditions.

Very well maintained but a bit crowded even on a Thursday. Beautiful dramatic views from the midpoint onward. Some boulder scrambling but nothing too hard. It was a little slippery coming down since it had recently rained, and I would advise using poles.

Great trail, not too crowded in the middle of the week. Definitely very exposed and windy the last mile up, so make sure to plan for the weather! As others have said, it is 1 mile from the parking area to the Sunset Ridge trailhead, and then 2.2 miles up from there, so the whole hike is over 6 miles start to finish.

Not an enjoyable hike. It’s big and the mountain impressive. But it’s just nonstop rock climbing.
