Interesting hike. Worth reading the history of Birdseye Ski Area first. Lookouts are great. The extra hike to the peak is worth it

Great!

We snow shoes it. It is not well marked even though we have hiked it a few times snow made it harder to find. About half was in tracked. Some people had gone about half way and turned around. The steep areas were very tough in the deep snow. . Nice accomplishment for a couple of 70 plus

This trail should definitely be rated difficult!! It was a lovely hike, and the view at the top was stunning, but it is a steady uphill incline the entire way up, and there are frequent sections where it’s quite steep. We could only make it to Ed’s overlook (the closer one) because our legs were giving out. The trip down is tough too. Definitely give it a try, but only if you’re feeling ready for a pretty intense workout. It’s worth it for the view though!

the trail itself is fairly wide and only had one downed tree we had to duck around. There are no markings for this trail and it has some paths that could lead you astray so it is wise to keep tabs on the map and your gps to make sure you stay on the right trail. view at the top was awesome.

So I was a little confused with the gps directions to the trail parking but the welcome to Castleton sign with the parking lot Iis where to go, the gate locked and for Sale signs throws you off but on the left of the gate there is an opening to walk through to the road. I assume once they sell the mountain you may not be able to hike it anymore but not sure. It is very steep and muddy. The views from the top were very nice: I brought four kids one on my back and although hard we did it. Also trail can be confusing so I followed on the all trails app and had no issues! It was about 55 and cool today so we didn’t have any bug problems! And only saw a few people on the trail.

A little disappointed with this trail. It had some pretty views! However, the trail was a little difficult to figure out. A lot of steep uphills. There are a few spots you have to step through the stream to get across. A lot of ATVS on the trail today as well.

Great Hike first time starting from 4a usually take the trail head off Birdseye Road to the east. Gets very steep about half the way to the first 3 outlooks so be prepared for that, might want trekking poles or hiking stick to help you in way down was muddy and covered in leaves. All the Vistas are spectacular I went to the south Vistas as well . GPS acted weird after I paused my recording at the first Vista, so subtract about 2 miles from this recording. It looks like I hang glided down but didn't. Saw a beaver so that was pretty awesome.
