Yant Flats trail takes you across the southern slopes of the Pine Valley Mountains, where sandstone layers at the edge of the Colorado Plateau have been pushed up by the underlying volcanic rocks, and eroded into the familiar domes, cliffs and canyons. The layered rock gives a fabulous marbled effect with some of the most incredibly colored sandstone formations.

Spent two days enjoying the colorful rocks, birds, lizards, squirrels, sunsets, sunrises and a beautiful full moon. It felt like home.

Make sure you go all the way to end. I found the trail to be more on the easy side as opposed to moderate. There were people with kids and dogs hiking with no problem. Not crowded.

Amazing views all the way to Zion. Fun candy colored cliffs that you can play on. What could be better?!?

Beautiful sandstone formations. One our favorite family hiking spots when we're in St. George. No services and the gravel/dirt road getting to the trail head is a little sketchy but we made it in the minivan several times now. Easy, fairly flat but sandy trail from parking spot to the cliffs where you'll then have amazing views. Keep exploring around the cliffs and then head further over the edge for some scrambling down onto the sandstone formations for the real treat at Candy Cliffs.

Incredible sandstone formations. You could easily spend two days here. I've been out 3 times now and still more to explore. It's best done in the cooler season though, very limited shade and you will be walking around on rock that faces south.

Breathe taking views! The hike is relatively plain until you come to the overlook. No question, terrific hike.

Unbelievable cactus flower displays, everywhere along the trail. Beautiful red rock canyon scenery at the end. Explore cautiously and keep an eye out for cairns. Enjoy.
