Easy trail, with a large rock at the end to walk on. Very busy, lots of kids and crowds.

Great easy trail though a little steep at times. Views at the end are well worth it. This trail is well marked as well.

Hiked this with our 3 kids (ages 16, 13 and 10). They said it was their favorite hike of the day (they like short hikes...). Took us about 45 minutes out and back, but we also took quite a few pics. Very well marked with plenty of stacked rocks. Whenever in doubt, just look for the stacked rocks. I’m the nervous mom always telling my kids to “get back from the edge”, but I had no need to fear on this trail. Although, I still don’t think I would take little ones on this hike.

Great for older kids as there is a decent incline, but a nice short adventure toward the north end of Island in the Sky.

Fun little hike up a small bluff. Worth doing if you're driving by.

Nice, easy little trail. Might be nice for kids or others looking for something easy. The views are good for the amount of effort.

Not great in winter - snow and ice makes it hard (and dangerous) to climb up and down the rock. Otherwise, amazing views! Short scramble up.

This was a fun hike, and perfect place to stop and lunch. Had a lot of fun hopping from rock to rock, until we landed on the "whale" . You can get a decent view of Upheaval Dome.

I just didn’t see the appeal for the views offered. It was mediocre at best.

Moderately easy (some moderately steep slick rock inclines) - but doable for family and kids. Pretty and fun little spot. Great views from top of the whale.

Totally fun for the kids. Great first starter for scrambling for kids or adults. I enjoyed the view, but there were so many kids on this particular trail (whale rock seemed to get the families here), that it was not quiet and peaceful. I saw many families with their Junior Ranger packets, so perhaps this is on the tour book for them.

Great trail for kids and adults alike. There are several spots where you have to lean forward going up on the slick rock etc., but otherwise it's a great view at the top. I wouldn't rate it exactly easy. Some people will have trouble going up and down the inclined sections. Others, it's just a walk in the park.

I would rate this easy unless it was raining. Short hike that my young kids loved. It really feels like your climbing on the back of a rock whale and there's a decent view around at the top.
