good choice for an abbreviated version of the Under The Rim Trail, avoiding the more poorly maintained southern section of the trail - only downside is this requires two cars (one at Bryce and one at Whitman Bench)

good idea for a less travelled strenuous day hike, though this would require a two car shuttle - descend from Bryce past the Hat Shop (a monster hill, not fun to walk back up), pass Right Fork Yellow Creek, Yellow Creek Group, Yellow Creek, Right Fork Swamp Canyon, and Swamp Canyon backcountry camping sites passing the Mud Canyon Spring viewpoint along the way, ascend to Whitman Bench

Not as crowded as the Navajo Loop and Queen's garden.

Definitely a great single night backpacking trek. We got the permit day of (walk-in) and hiked from Bryce Point to Yellow Creek to camp. The first day was almost entirely downhill but by the end of it (early afternoon) it was getting pretty toasty. Little to no breeze made the ~90 degree heat feel pretty strong. The campsite was great, plenty of good spots for setting up tents and hammocks. After settling in, a herd of cows passed by a few times while grazing.

Hiking out the second day was pretty strenuous, quite a bit of up and down for the first few miles. We ate lunch near the junction of Under the Rim and Swamp Canyon Connector trails. The hike out from there up to Whiteman Bench was pretty consistently uphill, and got pretty steep as we exited the canyon. All in all though it was a great trek and I would definitely recommend it to a group looking to do a single night backpacking out in Bryce.

A very nice trail to get away from the crowds at Bryce. Even when it's busy, you may not see any other hikers for miles!

Just did this trail 4 days ago. Spent 3 hours on it and didn't see a single other group of hikers! It was really nice to have it all to ourselves. It was the end of winter though and the beginning of the trail was covered in snow and mud. But after a half mile or so, it dried out. There are some sketchy, slightly narrow parts of the trail, covered with loose rocks or sand, that slope down so be careful. The Hat Shop doesn't have signage or anything either but you'll know it when you see it. The hike back was a little tough, but definitely doable. Just take your time and enjoy the scenery. It was nice to view Bryce from a less crowded trail.

This trail has no shade. It is a moderate downhill to awesome views. The climb back out will be tough.

A wonderful trail but very exposed and the way back is mainly uphill.
