This is one my favorite trails to do when I want to do an impromptu hike. I usually start at the trailhead off Cascade Canyon Dr. There are great views from this trail of St. George, Santa Clara and Ivins. Right where the trail turns away from the rim there's a bench to sit on and take in the fantastic view of Red Mountain. Be aware that while in the reserve you could come across a desert tortoise in which you should admire from afar so you don't scare them into losing their limited water supply. If this happens they could die before the next rainfall! One of the highlights on this hike is the Turtle Wall for which the trail is named. The huge red rocks from the side look like a turtle head and body. You can walk out into it, sit awhile and take in the views. The trail is typically trafficked by hikers, trail runners, and bikers.

There is a great mountain bike loop in this area, as well as hiking/trail running. A few technical sections, but most have an alternative route.

This is a large area with many trails. Just scratched the surface with a short loop. Trail sign shows many trails. There are also signs at all of the trail junctions
