The Narrows may close during extreme weather conditions (flash flood warnings). Please check conditions before visiting: https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/conditions.htm Walk through the water between high canyon walls as a nice way to cool off in Zion National Park. The Riverside Walk Trail is a relatively flat, easy paved out and back trail located at the end of the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive that travels alongside the Virgin River to the mouth of the Narrows. There are water filling stations at the trail head where the shuttle buses drop off as well as restrooms. There are sandy areas near the end near the entrance to the Narrows where you can cool your feet in the cool waters. Go as far as you like up the river but step carefully, as the water can get chest high in some places. Zion National Park has a shuttle system that operates in a loop and brings guests between the visitor center and various stops along the way. For a map, please visit Zion National Park's website.

A pleasant - albeit very busy - stroll along a paved path. The highlight was watching a couple climbers (see pics). For a more picturesque and uncrowded view get off on the previous shuttle stop and follow the “river access” sign. Take the short hike down and enjoy.

A walking stick is definitely helpful in keeping your balance.

Cool hike. Went as far as Wall Street. Definitely rent foot wear from a local outfitter. Very unique hike and a must if you go to Zion.

Rented wet gear from Zion Adventure Company for $55. Traveled 2 hours up the river to reach Wall Street. Worth it!

I hiked it today 1/11/20. At the start I hiked down a path that was right along the river. I crossed the water a couple of times until I reached the end. Once I reached the end I continued to hike for about a mile walking through the water the entire time. Water was ankle to knee deep the entire time (I’m 5’9). Great views and I was the only one back there. I was only wearing running tights and Gore-Tex hiking boots.

Beautiful day for a hike - afternoon temps in the low 40s and clear blue skies. I was able to drive to the trailhead, as shuttles won't be running until mid-February. Trail is dry except for one small icy patch and a few puddles.

Done on the first shuttle. Arrived about 6 am and was very cold. Done in July. Nice walk along the river. We hiked the narrows through the water as well.

Great hike!! Soo much fun hiking through water. It was nice to see the icicles on the walls as we are hiking through. It was cold but we had dry suits on. Overall beautiful relaxing hike didn’t want it to end.

Easy and heavily trafficked. It was still nice to see.

Completed on 12/19/19. Leisurely walk along the rocks formations and river. Friend with mobility issues was able to complete without issues. Trail was mostly flat until the latter portion. There were some close calls with falling ice but luckily no one in our group got hit. Didn't jump into the water at the end.

This can be just a walk or you can take a dip in the virgin river. Don't leave your snacks out, the squirrels will snatch them. Paved path up until the narrows. Washed out after heavy rain and in the spring the river is flowing too fast. For pictures of this trail and many more follow me on Instagram @nathan_vanengen

One of the most unique - and challenging - hikes you may ever have. You’ll want to watch your footing, the rocks can be slippery. We went in late September, a perfect time to visit Zion.

Easy trail leading into The Narrows. Next time! You walk right next to the river. An easy one to do after some of the more str kid ones they have here.

Very beautiful walk. We went a day after heavy rain and there were many amazing waterfalls. Trail is paved the whole way but there were a good amount of muddy puddles. They did not get in the way but I would recommend boots after rain. Not too many people today but the weather wasn’t great and it was off-season.

Incredible hike! Water was cold but dry suit held up perfectly. Went 5 miles in. Go early and turn around before you feel tired.

Actually hiked into the narrows to “Wall Street”

Heavily trafficked. A nice quick hike to see the river and canyon. GPS signal had a lot of issues in the canyon so the recording is pretty messed up.

Unique hiking experience. Hike through a river valley with water up to your shins while in between two Titan sized mountains. Epic. The rocks can be a little sharp and uneven at times, so definitely bring appropriate footwear/waterproof boots and step cautiously, but doable for the whole family (except maybe very little ones). Beautiful views. One of my fav hiking experiences.

Beautiful easy little trail along the river. It’s great to see everyone in their way to hike in the narrows.

This is a nice easy walk along the river.
