The Vortex features an interesting bowl formed into the sandstone. This trail is also referred to as the Camelback Trail.

Not as clearly marked, so I took some wrong ways. Nice bowls but they were dry

What an exceptional hike. Fairly easy, fascinating rock formations (both natural & man-made), list the trail twice right at the end

Great views at the top and a few bowls as well. I’d recommend leaving tracker on durning hike to keep on path. 10/10 would recommend. Doggos and good bois welcome also. Beware of large gopher snakes as well. Saw two. YIKES

Went early and there weren’t many people on the trail to start. It filled up fast and got hit on the way down. Not much in the way of shade. Great views at the top. 4 kids (including 4 year old) did it just fine. Great hike!

Beautiful trail. We went around 6 pm and it was shaded most of the way. Beautiful scenery along the trail and at the end of the hike.

Amazing, short, secluded hike. Got there by 8am and had the whole area to ourselves for about an hour or so. Also, there are a total of 4 bowls on the top, go around and explore.

A little difficult to find the trail from the parking lot but once you pick up the trail it’s pretty easy to watch for cairns and foot prints to keep you headed in the right direction. Well worth the hike when you get up to the vortex and surrounding rock formations! We lived it. Very hot so take plenty of water.

Trail head on not behind wooden sign, head past to the end of that little dirt road and it will be on the end marked by a small sign that just says wilderness lol. Trail was great amazing views and cool features. Once you get to what you think is the end of the trail you turn and head back up the ridge. There are several holes with water so don’t let the first one deceive you. You’ll know which one it is when you see it, amazing I will be doing it again.

awesome trail with scenic views and a wide stone canyon. some areas with drop offs, and one river crossing. the river is dry except in cases of recent rain. the trailhead is confusing. do not go down the primative trail by the wooden sign. rather, you should go past the sign a hundred feet or so to the smaller trailhead which is past the roundabout in the dirt.

This trail is NOT well marked but there are some small cairns to help. Use gps to help track your way or record so you can find your way back to lot. The Vortex is all the way at the top and easy to miss, make sure you look behind you when you are at the body of water with the tree in the middle.

I loved this hike, trail isn't very well marked, but with the help of GPS and cairns, very easy to find... didn't see another person till I was almost back to the trailhead.

Beautiful Landscape. Fairly easy hike. Make sure to bring your GPS. It’s easy to get off track. Had to ask a couple of hikers that knew the area well enough, to find the vortex. Otherwise a great hike.

Great family hiking trail with phenomenal views in the canyon and then on top of the ridge where the "vortex" is located. Trail is not marked well, however if you keep going up the canyon when you get towards the top of the ridge turn right. Don't be fooled when you come to a pool with a small tree at the edge of the water, continue on a little further and you will not be disappointed.

Super fun and beautiful! You can’t really get lost on this trail but if it weren’t for this map, I definitely wouldn’t have found the Vortex. It’s really fun to skip and jump around on the rocks! I agree with the moderate rating. I hiked this pretty fast and saw some people running it. No more than 2-3 hours is needed. I finished in under 2 and I stopped for tons of photos along the way.

Great hike. Find your way down to the water then cross over and go to your right. Look for the cairns. Great views. Once at the top, you will find a little bowl, then the bigger one in which people have engraved their names. Great views from the top. Well worth the trip.

Really pretty! The kids had a great time! Great views. A little tricky figuring out the trail. But worth it. Getting there was a little tedious. It’s a ways down the dirt road.
