The Escalator via Moab Rim Trail is a 1.9 mile out and back trail located near Moab, Utah that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking.
I thought it was a great quick easy hike...The 1st mile is steep but not too bad. And then I extended it to make a little bit longer on the Moab rim trail.
This trail is short but brutal. Up steep incline the whole way. The best views of the canyon and river can be seen without hiking all the way up the trail. Half way up or so yields the best views and photo ops.
This is no way an easy hike. Definitely moderate or hard depending on your fitness. The way out is entirely uphill. But it’s a lovely challenge with a great reward of a view of Moab at the top, and of course a nice downhill on the way back. Good sunset spot. There were lots of Jeeps when I went.
Cool trail overall, will see some jeeps, only saw two other people when I hiked on a Tuesday afternoon. Trail is not well marked. Some good views at the top.
they don’t call it the stair master for nothing. this was an insane hike with even better views. bring plenty of water if you’re doing this in the afternoon when the sun is blazing.
Really beautiful view of the river all the way up. It is a very steep climb the whole time but the view at the top is rewarding. The trail is shared with off roading vehicles so if hiking, I’d recommend going during non-peak hours. It’s also very exposed. Do not do in the blaze of the sun. We went in an overcast evening and it was great.
Awesome trail. Great views! A little tough for an "easy" hike. Deserves the name!
Beautiful hike that will get your heart going. About 950 el gain in 1.2 miles. Slickrock 95%, wear boots with ankles support.
