The majority of the trail was very rocky. The app was useful as there are multiple trails that overlap. Traffic was very light on a Monday morning. The views from the top were nice, although still smoky from the fires. There were a couple of steep climbs and descents, good shoes are necessary. Overall nice quick hike to get the blood pumping.
Some nice views but you can get them on other trails in the area. This trail has a few very steep sections that are very slick. I wouldn’t recommend trail running. You need good hiking shoes and poles for this one.
This trail was a good trail to get your heart racing in just a short time. Some areas of the trail are extremely steep but nothing that’s too hard!
Eh. Great for mountain biking. Lots of trails easy to get off route
Really nice trail. It’s a bit barren still, but I think once we get further into spring it’ll start to be an even more pleasant hike!
Incredible views. If you go off trail definitely recommend snow shoes or spikes.
Spectacular views along the trail. The wildflowers are still in bloom although the season is about to wrap up but there were so many Sego Lillies, Mules Ear and other varieties. The trail is well maintained and the mountain bikers are very courteous. We took a side trail to the top of a peak, not twin peaks, and had beautiful 360 degree views of the Salt Lake Valley and City Creek Canyon. It’s surprisingly quiet even though it’s 10 minutes from Salt Lake City. Lots of birds, too! There is little shade so make certain to take plenty of water, wear sunscreen and pick a cool temperature day.
Nice hike with a good amount of elevation gain. There was quite a bit of gravel on the trail which made the steeper parts pretty dangerous. I'm a pretty careful hiker and I fell on my butt once. I would suggest taking a trekking pole/walking stick. No shade, so start early in the hot summer months.Great views of the valley!
So, full disclosure, I’m a Georgia girl, so this is definitely not what I would consider “easy,” but from a western hiking perspective it was definitely on the easy side! Much of it is wide gravel / rock road, which was a little challenging for me. Lots of elevation right up front. Trail with some bikers and dogs (leashed and unleashed on an even day. Not too crowded in spite of it being a gorgeous fall Saturday starting at 10:30 am. No shade to speak of, which was fine today but would be brutal in the summer. Views of the city for the whole hike. At a very slow and leisurely pace with lots of stops it took 1:15.
This was such a pretty hike this time of year—wild flowers, green hills, waves of grass blowing in the breeze, and THE VIEWS! So awesome to see Antelope Island, down into City Creek Canyon, across the majestic Wasatch Mountains, clear across the Salt Lake Valley to the Kennecott Copper Mine, and over Downtown SLC. The kids (15,12,10,8) did great and it seemed like a popular dog walking location. This was our 70th hike in one year—6/1/2017-6/1/2018. That’s 70 different, kid-friendly hikes! So love living along the Wasatch Front!
