Great hike, harder than it seems it would be, especially near the end, but worth the views.

07/06/20 - Beautiful! Flowers are everywhere right now. Amazing 360 degree views of al the peaks around. Awesome views of Lake Catherine, Lake Martha, and Lake Mary. As you get closer to the saddle you hike through some sand.

Note: Albion Basin Rd doesn’t open until July 20 so it’s a 2ish mile hike to the trailhead. A bit snowy and muddy but doable with boots. We decided to head up to Sunset Peak and loved the view. A nice hike with some nice views at the end.

Great! Bring boots and make sure you have a gps cause the trail is covered by lots of icy snow. We went for sunrise and it was beautiful.

Pretty snowy right now! We didn’t finish because we were all in chacos, but it’s probably doable in boots!

Tried to get to the peak on snowshoes but ended up at a section that was too sketching to attempt with snow and ice.

Added a couple miles since the road to the trailhead is closed for the season, and didn’t make it much further than the trailhead bc of snow. But I’d like to try this again in the spring/summer, I bet the peak is pretty nice.

Amazing 360 views from the top I wouldn’t necessarily rank this hike as hard it does get a little steep towards the end but the first 1.5 miles is mostly flat. Weather is still good today just a little snow on the ground with plenty of deer walking around!

Really beautiful hike, with amazing views at the top! Our original plan was to just hike up to catherines pass, and then go down and hike cecret lake. But I am so glad we decided to just go up sunset peak instead! Moderate hike, with great views of Lake Catherine, Martha, and Mary! There was a little ice near the top of the peak, but nothing that was unmanageable.
