This trail starts to the left of the Silver Lake Express chairlift in Deer Valley at Silver Lake Lodge and is used by a horseback riding company. Not a bad thing except the trail was dusty and very soft, loose dust-I thought I was walking on the beach in Destin, FL. Once you get to the deck, picnic tables and grills turn around and go back or you’ll be walking up a service road-not scenic. The lake is Jordanelle reservoir in the distance. Not a lake you touch or feel.

I would not recommend this trail. It gets one star for views. But it was dusty, full of horse manure and you return on a steep uninteresting fire road.

I recommend you skip this one and take the Silver Lake Trail which is longer but a 5 star hike to bald mt. Even if you turn around 1/2 way to the top and call me back.

Great views of the lake.. Tough last half of the trail.. Beware the horse poop..bring waterproof boots

Down a trail with scenic views going out. It was a grind up a service road coming back.

Pretty. Lots of horse poop and a big up hill. Harder for younger kids due to the uphill at the end.

it was ok. Easy to do with kids, though it was a little steep for them coming back. the trail is dirt, so very dusty. and, when this description says "features a lake" it means you can see jordanelle in the distance. not good access to water for dogs, though we found some at the end (lower part of the trail) off the trail down a little gulch. the directions provided here take you to a private road. this hike is in deer valley. best to park near silver lake shopping center and walk through there. I probably wouldn't do this one again unless I was just bumming around deer valley.
