The hike through Albion Basin to Cecret Lake features wildflowers during the summer. Cecret Lake is a great mountain lake that sits below Sugarloaf Mountain and Devils Castle. Sugarloaf Mountain is one of the easiest peaks to summit topping out over 11,000 feet. There is a bit of scrambling along the ridge going from Sugarloaf pass to Mount Baldy, as well as the descent along the ridge once you turn north. There are incredible views of the Alta ski area and numerous peaks of the Wasatch Mountains.

Great hike! You can do as little or as much as you want of the loop. The hike to Cecret Lake is a very popular hike for families with children of all ages. Getting to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain is easier if you head west from Cecret Lake and pass under the Sugarloaf ski lift. There is also a trail on the east side of the lake that takes you up to a saddle between Devils Castle and Sugarloaf. There is some scrambling when you ascend Mount Baldy, but it is not anything technical. From Baldy, you can continue along the ridge towards Hidden Peak, or head down/north towards Alta. You need to have careful footing on the way down but again, the route is not technical at all. Views are great of the surrounding peaks and basins of Little Cottonwood and the Wasatch Mountains! If you time the hike just right, wildflowers explode along the trail in the Albion Basin area.
