The South Fork of Little Deer Creek#242 is an enjoyable trail that travels from the Summit TH to the ridge trail. This trail links several loop routes that can be used to visit different areas around Pleasant Grove Ranger District. The trail moves through aspens, firs, and open meadows, with views of Mount Timpanogos along the way. A reroute in the vicinity of the Cascade Springs road was recently performed to aid the sustainability of the trail, and users should follow the new route as the old route is now closed.

I went up South Fork Little Deer Creek and came back down on Ridge Trail 157 to make a nice loop. South Fork is beautifully shaded and lush with wildflowers, Aspen, and conifers. Ridge Trail is slightly more exposed, but has intermittent cover and gorgeous views of the Timps. However there were a ton of mountain bikers and dozens of dirt bikes. they didn't yield at all, kicked up a lot of dust, and the dirt bikes blow exhaust in your face. It wasn't as peaceful as Id hoped.

I absolutely loved this hike, plenty of shade plus a nice breeze today, fantastic views of Timpanogos, American Fork Canyon and Cascade Creek area. On the return I took South Fork train for a change of scenery.

Beautiful trail!! The first half is full of meadows, aspens, and wildflowers, then the second half is a shaded, conifer forest. Heard lots of birds. We did made the mistake of hiking the day after a rainstorm so the entire trail was incredibly muddy! Other than the mud, it was beautiful.

We took this segment to 157 Ridge trail and followed that back to Summit TH. It made for a nice loop. The first 1-1.5 miles of this trail is all down hill then up for 2-2.5 to the junction with 157 Ridge trail. My 6 & 9 year old girls made it with some encouragement. The views going back to Summit TH on 157 are amazing!!! We saw a number of hikers, Mountain bikers, dirt bikes, and horses. The trail was not crowded at all but you do have to be in the look out for the dirt and mountain bikers!!

Pretty, but I’d recommend the Ridge Trail 157 over this one.

Beautiful! Mostly in the shade, lots of flowers and butterflies right now.

beautiful trail! there was a wide variety of vegetation which kept the scenery from feeling monotonous at all. dirtbikers use the trail, so keep an ear out for them. it had rained before we got up there, and the trail had some good puddles in it. it also makes a nearly complete loop if you pair it with the Ridge Trail. :)
