Walking

Solitude ski resort was closed so it was a perfect day to make the loop. Spikes were needed for the trail. Parking lot only had 3 cars when we pulled up at 9am.

Hiking

Great conditions right now. The trail from Solitude up to the summit has sno-cat tracks so hiking was easy. Coming down, the trail is slipperier; spikes would have been useful, though with poles it wasn't bad. I had spikes in my backpack but never felt the need to get them out.

Beautiful hike by lakes through the snow. Gorgeous views the whole way. Most of the snow was packed so microspikes were sufficient.

Beautiful hike. Snow on the ground but no ice. The last 0.5mi was rough, but worth the view!

Really cool trail. Pretty steep between Solitude Lake and Twin Lake. The view overlooking Twin Lake is awesome. Tough hike for the kids, but they did pretty good.

Started before 9am toward Solitude, didn’t see anyone until after I passed Twin. Gorgeous weather, bluebird sky, lovely and challenging trail.

HikingGreat!

Great trail, Great lakes, great views. Lots of wildflowers. We went to Twin Lakes first, which gets very steep in parts (ups and downs). Between Solitude lake and Silver lake is much easier. We had small children and or took a while.

Great trail. Start from Twin lake for a tougher hike that gains elevation. We did that and we’re glad for it. Gorgeous views. Only downside was the number of families crowding on it if you start after noon.

Hiked up to and around Twin Lakes. Boardwalks are nice for families with young kids. Trail up is fairly ugly. Just a wide rocky dusty road. The impact of the nearby resorts is apparent everywhere, including the vibe of other hikers. Actually made me a bit uncomfortable. A little disappointing after Lamb’s Canyon the previous day. I think I’ll steer clear of these resort trails from now on.

Hiking

Hiked this with kids counter-clockwise (so hiked through Solitude first, then came down through Brighton). Hike was gorgeous but very challenging pitch. Given direction taken, rocky stretch noted by other hikers was on the downhill for us, which presented additional challenges. Gorgeous hike with beautiful views and plenty of parking near Brighton Store and at trailhead next to Silver Lake.

Fun hike with the family. Could have had better markers as there are lots of trails that intersect and it wasn’t always clear which way to go. Views were great and the climbs made us work.
