This self-guided nature trail highlights geological features and native plants of the park. This loop covers parts of 3 different trails and a dirt road. If you like stay in the campground and cover all the different trails over a couple of days or try this one to get great views of the area. Start at the Hidden Pinyon trailhead on the west side of the road, take the paved whiptail trail about 30 yards and turn west onto the HP trail which is also signed for Three Ponds trail. Take this trail until you reach a junction and keep left, if you go right this is part of the TP trail and will go back to the campground and visitor center. On the HP trail you will come to another junction where you will turn and go northeast across the petrified dunes. Then you come to the Butterfly trail where you will turn west and follow to a trail junction to an overlook point go up to the overlook to see some beautiful views then back down and go west north west on the trail until you meet up with west canyon road. At this point turn southeast and follow the road past a utility box on the right and an outhouse on the left then an abandoned road on the left and you will then cross the TP trail, turn left onto this trail and follow back to the petrified dunes and back down to the HP trail and back to the road and your finished. This was a great hike and crossed much of the trail areas.

Dogs aren't allowed on any trails in Snow Canyon State park. Alltrails is wrong. once the park ranger confirmed, we got our entrance back and left.

A great trail providing a variety of scenery and hiking difficulty. The Hidden Pinyon Trail is short but moderate with stunning scenery. The Petrified Dunes is an other worldly experience of hiking over bare rock that climbs to a nice vantage point. Next, you’ll connect to the Butterfly Trail which is relatively easy except for a steep downward climb towards the beginning. The Lava Flow outlook provides panoramic views over Snow Canyon. Then you’ll descend into the west canyon through thick white sand and then follow the road back to the red sands trail which will drop you off back at the trail head.

Perfect weather, you get a wide variety of biomes. Ran into a rattlesnake on the trail, so pay attention! The petrified dunes portion is poorly marked, but easy enough to recover on the other side. With lots of turns and intersecting trails its very easy to lose the trail.

love this state park, kids can climb up big hills, go down into lava tubes (caves) and walk around what looks like mars.

A hidden gem!! A quiet, and in my opinion more interesting, place comparing with the crowded Zion. This trail covers several kinds of landscapes, including red sand, volcano rocks, petrified dunes, etc. If you look for more intensity, you can easily add more hikes to this loop. We went to the end of the Red Sand Trail and back to the loop, then went a little bit detour to hike up the Overlook Trail before we continued on the Butterfly Trail. We spent about 5-6 hrs in total. We saw a live road runner too!

This is kind of the route I took, based on a track recommended by one of the rangers in the visitor center. There are lots of route options. This is a spectacularly scenic state park and a great place to wander around. It is best to try to stay on the trails and not mess up the vegetation, but you can climb randomly all over the petrified dunes, and there were plenty of people doing that today, including an amazing number of small children. If you are trying to complete the loop shown here, it is not necessarily obvious how to pick up the trail coming down from the dunes, but I doubt you will get lost for very long.

This hike gave us a lot of different scenery through the park. Petrified dunes was awesome however we lost the trail at one point because the markers are too far apart. Still an amazing hike

I didn't go on any trails. Started at the North entrance and hiked through all the rocks and everything to the South entrance. Loved it.

Wanted to do the snow canyon trail, biut didn't see the turnoff from the main trail (there's a trail post at each major turn), so I kept going up the canyon. Beautiful views. The main trail is available for any hiker. Excellent hike! If you have a Utah State Parks pass you can get closer, or you can pay $6 at the gate, but there is a small parking lot before you get to the park if you want the extra hike.

Fantastic to see so many of trails in Snow Canyon. It's perfect during the mid day morning in Spring. The 3ish miles give you a taste of slick rock, uneven rocks, red sand and even fun to see bunnies, butterflies and wildflowers. My wedding was at the Overlook so hike up there to see it for yourself if you want to. Enjoy!

Great family trail! Lots of adjacent slick rock for scrambling, so it can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be. We take our kids on this trail often.

This is a great nature trail for the family. there is enough natural elements and geography for the adults and enough terrain texture for the kids. The kids will enjoy the sand, lava rock, and the occasional sandstone scamper.
