Magnificent slickrock trail that offers stunning views of canyons and the Needles. Would recommend this trail used during morning and evening hours due to extreme sun exposure.

Not too strenuous, very exposed. Make sure to follow cairns, but some very nice viewpoints along the way make the loop worth it.

Beautiful views all over. Definitely worth the time and the sun - there is No shade, so bring a hat and plenty of water. The trail was really well marked with cairns - you're walking on rock for most of the trail, so it feels exploratory while also not getting lost. I would highly recommend following the cairns all the way out to the far rock on viewpoint 2 - my favorite view for sure.

Fun, short hike with several great overlook vistas. Although short, if summertime, bring plenty of water.

It took about 2 hours to complete, but we explored off the trail a bit. 10year old son managed it no problem. Great views and some fun climbing moments for kiddos ( off path to see views).

This trail is very underrated. We saw a TON of landmarks. Make sure you grab a guide so you know what you are looking at. Return them for free (or just add the donation) or pay the 50 cents to keep the map. We went at 830 and saw a total of 4 other people, so go early. No shade at all, so bring water!

A nice enough walk. if you have the ability to, I'd recommend doing some of the longer hikes in the area, but of it's too hot or you don't feel like a long hike, this one is not a half-bad alternative.

Interpretive brochure at trailhead describes four clearly signed viewpoints. Trail is marked with plenty of strategically placed rock cairns We encountered a howling wind that lasted 5 minutes and blew sand in our faces while we were standing near the edge of a steep drop-off – a pretty intense experience! Impressive views to north of Island in the Sky mesa and Junction Butte.

It’s s good hike on the rocks. Need to pay attention to the makers on the rocks. 1-2 hours. Beautiful scenic hike. Need good hiking shoes that can give good footing to the slick rock surface.

Excellent introduction to the Needles, easy and scenic. There are a lot of opportunities to find your own view points that really make for a personal experience on this trail. hiked March 19th not too much traffic, well worth the time!

This is a good intro to the area. We walked this trail at the end of September in midday sunshine with temps nearing 90 with strong winds. We had no trouble following the cairns. I don’t understand why others had a hard time. Hats off to those maintaining them—we found them evenly spaced about 30-40 feet apart where no trail was apparent. A word of caution: whatever the weather in the area, you’ll get it in spades on this hike. You’re traversing completely exposed rock at the highest elevation in the area. Although it was hot we hiked through very strong winds that left me thinking I wouldn’t want to be out there unprepared in extreme weather—you won’t find cover anywhere. That goes for sun exposure as well. That said, we really enjoyed the walk. The trail was fun but I highly recommended heading to the Elephant Hill area for a truly spectacular experience.

We did this trail in the early morning quick before heading back home, took us just a little over an hour, but we were moving pretty fast. I found the trail to be very well marked, so am unsure of the other reviewers. I did see this trail marketed as a good trail for beginner hikers to learn how to follow carins and hike over slickrock. Nice views in all directions, and one of the only not 10 miles but more than .5 miles hike in this section of the park that we were able to find.
