Directions from Salt Lake City: Follow Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (7000 South Wasatch Blvd.) 12.7 miles up to Solitude. At the lower parking lot there is a locked gate nearby. Park along the highway, but be sure not to block the gate. On the west end of the lot, there should be a road to follow. Please be mindful as it is a private residential road.

Hello, everyone! Just a friendly reminder that this is a private residential road. Dogs are not allowed in the canyon because it is a natural watershed. Residents are residents up here for a reason. We all ask every one of you be respectful in that you are conscientious of the people who live up the canyon and that you do not park around this trail or road at all. Carry out the "no-trace" practice. This means you leave nature the way you found it. No trash, human waste or anything that does not belong in the area. This also includes noise and light pollution. Thanks for reading and if you're found with a dog or parking in the wrong spot, you'll be fined. Fair warning. :-) Happy trails.

Hiked in Sept. and the colors were dazzling. Trail to lower mine was easy. I took a small trail just off the “road” for the first .5 mile for some variety. I then added distance and difficulty by extending the trail to the saddle at the end of the canyon.

if you are looking for a short, easy hike, this was great. it's very secluded and not crowded.

This is a service road, not a "trail" I only did part of the hike because I HATE service road hikes. It was pretty though.

Trail itself was on and off covered with slushy deep snow that made for some post-holing, would have been better off with snowshoes on the ski run. Walked 1.08 miles up but it was getting late so turned around. Creek was beautiful, views were wonderful. Nice twilight from Eagle Express area parking lot at Solitude. Overall, great evening hike!

A wonderful hike. We followed the trail up to both mines and then took the ridge line up to Solitude boundary line on top of the Honeycomb Cliffs. It was a good scramble to the top from there. The views are amazing; you can see down both canyons and across at all the other awesome peaks.

Hiked point to point from Days Fork to the head of Silver Fork. The head of Silver Fork has great view down Silver Fork and also Little Cottonwood Canyon. View of Alta, Snowboard and down the canyon clear to Thunder Ridge. The trail is very good except for the top near the mine. We missed the main trail and followed a very faint trail the finally had to buchwack down some very old and very steep mine trails. Coming for the bottom should be very straight forward to the pass.
