This is a trail leading from the Mirror Lake Highway to East Shingle Lake. At Shingle Lake it joins other trails heading east and west. A good choice for an early season hike.

There seem to be two different, but very close, trails at the parking lot that join at the first bridge. The one I took need some maintenance (large fallen trees, eroding down the creek bank). However, in late July there were plenty of thimble berries on the trail.

Super HOT in July! The 3rd bridge no longer exists. Made it to South Erickson Lake - check out my full trial guide with a map and photos:

Packed into this site May 20, 2018 to reminisce a few day hikes taken with family almost 25 years ago! The river side trail is what makes this hike, as do the beaver ponds and spring flowers. Beautiful ridge lines make a great backdrop for camping.

A good trail for snowshoeing. Went up a couple miles after a snow storm and enjoyed the winter scenery.

Lots of snow up above the beaver ponds and icy in patches below them. Didn’t quite make it all the way up this time but it’s worth coming back to complete. Might just wait until late Spring though!

Love this hike! It is long but not too challenging. The lake is smaller than I expected but still has some good camping spots around it. Can't wait to go back!

Beautiful hike! A few tricky crossings but doable. 12.9 miles recorded. Relaxing by the quiet lake was magic. We rarely saw others on a holiday weekend. It was the perfect long hike in a day!

Went today, bridge is no longer out at 2.5 miles. There are a couple of tricky crossing but all doable. Went up to East Shingle Creek Lake, 6.5 miles 2500ft+ in elevation climb. Must have missed the 5 mile up lake. Wonderful trail to run.

BRIDGE IS OUT at mile 2.5!!! Do not attempt to cross the creek at this time! Beautiful runnable trail otherwise.

We weren't able to get to the lake we left too late. I love the river. We ran into a couple snow patches. The trail was a river in a couple places but fun to splash through.
